Hon Jarigbe Agom, Ishibori community, others bids farewell to Comr Ugabi

MP Jarigbe Agom, Ishibori community, friends and well wishers bids late Comr Paul Ugabi Ifu aka Bosky Farewell amidst tears

It was indeed a sad moment for the member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal constituency Hon Jarigbe Agom, the family of late Paul Ugabi Ifu, the Ishibori community, friends, the people of Ogoja local government, and the entire Ogoja/Yala constituents as the body of late Mr Ugabi was been laid to rest in his Paternal home at Ishibori,  Ogoja local Government area of Cross River State.

Mr Ugabi until his death was a grassroot politician, a peace maker, a philanthropist and a great mobilizer for his political party the PDP, his relationship with the honourable member representing his federal constituency Hon Jarigbe Agom spans over 3 decades and this relationship had transcended into brotherhood.

The atmosphere at the St. Thomas cathedral, Ogoja where his requiem mass was held alongside the calibre of persons who were in attendance and the mammoth crowd who came to bid him farewell, spoke volume about the kind of life he lived in his short stay on earth.

While speaking to newsmen after the mass,  Hon Jarigbe Agom with tears dripping down his eyes, hardly could talk, when he finally spoke he narrated  how they started life together on the streets of Ogoja and had plans for the future but the wicked hand of death snatched  him away,  in his words "I weep today because Ugabi has left us too soon, he was my brother and death cannot break that bond,  I will forever miss him and I pray he rests in the bosom of the Lord till we meet again "

He also stated that Ugabi was popularly known to be a peace maker and never fails to step in and settle differences whenever the need arises. "The vacuum Ugabi left behind can't be filled easily".

Other dignitaries at the burial ceremony includes Hon Rita Agbo Ayim, immediate past Ogoja local government chairman, Hon Mike Usibe, former chairman of Yala local government area, Mr Leo Iyamgbe the Cross River State security Adviser North, Mr Hillary uchiche, appointees of government, party members, his colleagues and family members.

May the soul of Mr Paul Ugabi Ifu Rest in Peace

How I plan to Rescue Cross River if voted in as Governor-Owan Enoh

With my Contacts and exposure both nationally and internationally, I intend to do the following and stop the mediocrity in the state called industrialization:

1. Stop the EIA approvals for the Superhighway and safe our forest.

2. Stop the EIA for the Bakassi Deep Sea Port, a project not possible for a state like Cross River.

3.  Close down the Rice City and sell the machines to states who know what Rice Seeds  and Seedling production mean. For there can not be a market for such craziness in Cross River.

4. Relocate the Garment Factory to Aba in Abia state for better patronage and productivity.

5. The 21 Mega watt  Power Plant at parliamentary extension will be too expensive for a state like Cross River to operate and maintain giving the cost. I therefore, intend to sell it out to PHCN and free us the stress.

6.  The Calabar Noodles and Poultry factories at the Industrial Park are just another ideas that never took the market survey into consideration, as competitors will do everything to frustrate the ventures. So there is  absolutely no need for these factories in the first place. I will therefore, stop their operations and sell out the factories to those who can buy.

7. The Calabar Pharmaceutical Factory is another big doom project embarked on that need my rescue mission to quickly stamp down and stop before we collapse totally. Reason is, we cannot sustain the factory. I will not focus on all these factory, factory stuff.

8. The Banana Farm and processing factory in Odupani is another denial of the farming heritage of the Etung, Ikom, and Boki people who grow bananna and have no market to sell. I will rather build a market than waste government money on Bananna processing factory.

9. As long as we stop the EIA for the Deep Sea Port, the Piles factory in Akamkpa will have no use for the state. I intend to sell it out to a private individual to produce electric poles and pay us tax.

10. I intend also to close down the Toothpick factory in Yakurr for lack of sustainability apparatus.

11. The Ikom Cocoa processing and Ogoja Rice Factories have no people participatory factors. How many of our Cocoa farmers and Rice farmers understand the direction of these factories. I will close them down when am governor.

12. The 147Km dual carriage road from Mfom to Ranch is a waste of Government resources, these areas have no traffic to merit such  huge road projects.

My Rescue Mission when I become governor, therefore,  is to free Cross River from all these industrialization carnival.

"Spirit of Enterprise must be off rooted".

Owan Enohs alleged adoption, a ruse-PDP

The Media Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council in Cross River State, has dismissed the purported adoption of the factional governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator John Owan Enoh, by some 15 governorship candidates in the state, as a ruse, describing it as the biggest scam of 2019 and a bogus New Year gift he could ever offer his supporters.
The committee in a statement signed by its Secretary, Mr Christian Ita, said it was not surprised that eight of the so-called 15 candidates are already distancing themselves from the purported endorsement.
It accused the senator representing the Central Senatorial District of the state of flying the validation kite, having seen that not only is his candidature enmeshed in acceptability crisis within his party, but that his floundering campaign has failed to gain traction and the necessary followership he had expected.
According to Statement, “This is clearly an act of desperation by Owan Enoh. It is a febrile attempt to hoodwink his supporters and create the impression that his flustering campaign is gaining impetus, when in actual sense he is still grappling with the challenge of acceptability by the generality of his disparate APC family. There is no doubt that even the undiscerning within his fold know that he is merely trying to pull the wool over the eyes of a motley of his supporters who are yet to see through his already vanquished and vanishing aspiration.”
Insisting that Owan Enoh has nothing to offer the state, given his 20 years of political representation since 1999, PDP urged Cross Riverians to be wary of the factional APC candidate. “Owan Enohs adventurism is already a failed project. It is indeed sad that for someone seeking to govern Cross River, his first outing in the new year is to scam the people with his adoption claims. Seriously, we think it is time Cross Riverians saw through his duplicity and shenanigans.
His proclivity to deceive has shamefully been exposed by eight of the so called fifteen governorship aspirants who have since dissociated themselves from the purported acceptance.”
Accusing the senator of self-seeking, the group tasked Cross Riverians, particularly those from the Central Senatorial District, where Owan has represented for the past 20 years to challenge him on his track record of democracy deliverables as House of Assembly, three-time House of Representatives member and senator, insisting that the embattled factional governorship candidate is merely seeking to add to his CV the title of former governorship candidate.
“Owan knows full well that his campaign is already in tatters and the only way to force himself into the consciousness of a handful of his followers who will soon abandon him the way others have done is to sell them a dummy. This is the height of fraud.”
According to the statement, neither Governor Ayade nor the PDP in the state is losing sleep over the fictive endorsement of Owan Enoh. It therefore, urged PDP supporters and indeed, Cross Riverians to dismiss the claim as a hoax and another of the senators fraudulent ploy to wrench political relevance.

WHEN MEN TURN IGNOBLE ~ LEONARD AFUOH

It still beats my imagination how Senator *Victor Ndoma Egba* thinks he can just walk his way into the red chambers ever again, after twelve whooping years as Senator. It staggers my sensibilities even more, how blind he thinks the electorates are. Just in case he might have forgotten (of course, for a man who always chew the fleshy part of the meat, it’s easy to forget), let this be for the records.

It took the mediation of noble men of the perk of Senator Liyel Imoke, to have the former Senate Leader re-elected for the third time as Senator. His campaign messages were nothing connected to projects executed, constituents empowered or anything that tells the presence of the people’s Senator in a Senatorial District. True, he was sterling on the floor of the House. But that is just about 30% expectation from a Senator in Nigeria who garners all the monies meant for the development of every community under his jurisdiction - resources dished out by the global community to help the desolate and destitute in Africa.

For eight years we had enjoyed no impact from the Senator, our Senator. No sense of closeness, no strand of connection with the people. We were abandoned, undermined and estranged. And then we have asked; what for God’s sake did the distinguish Senator do with all the millions pushed to his coffers as constituency allocation for eight years? We all complained. Nobody did not. And when the year was ripe, even a suckling knew it was high time he was ditched to the sidelines after a horrible representation. All the peopled yearned for was a breath of fresh air. The likes of Lt. Col. Paul Edor Obi, Rtd, were filling the spaces, winning the hearts of constituents, and like an arid march longs for a touch of rain, we tarried on tenterhooks to plunge our thumbs for the one time Military Administrator until the Avatar landed. Oga Liyel just has a way of wooing us against our liking. He watered down our zest. He turned an ocean over our flaming souls. And like a freshly deflowered maiden, we followed him. Against our wish, we did his bidding. We sent Victor back to the hallowed chambers. It earned him the Senate Leader. And as ingrates would always do, he came asking for another term, the fourth term. Thankfully, the same Avatar, Sabotaged his every move.

At the time when the PDP family needed people like him to stick their butt for her, he stabbed her in the back flinging his loyalty to the latrine. Like a masochist, he screwed her in her pain without looking back. How shattering it feels to be ditched by a lover, who goes basking in the warmth of a rival!

Again another year is here and the then Senate Leader is back again like a loose cannon gonging falsehood in the eardrums of the electorates for another term in the red chambers. Whoever told him he is the most outstanding in Cross River Central Senatorial District? If that’s the lie he has been feeding on, it is high he went in search of Baba Ijebu for some radical purgative. If seeking the fourth term is how growth is measured, then the word ‘growth’ should be expunged from the concordance. Senator Benedict Ayade was a senator, now he is a Governor. That is growth. Senator John Owan Enoh was in the State House of Assembly, then the Federal House of Representatives, ousted him into the Senate, and now he is gunning for the number one office in Cross River State (though a failed mission already). That is growth. Sandy Ojang Onor was a Local Government Chairman, a Commissioner, and now reaching for the Senatorial office. That too is growth. There are plethora of offices to vie for in Nigeria. If he is so outstanding, let him grab the bull by the horn by contesting for the number one office of the Federation. Only then can we all fling our weights behind him in regal pride. And I heard he was promised the Senate President if he wins. Well, he will not win. You see, ambition is like a black blindfold that denies you the chance to see reality. Perhaps he should ask his co-traitor (Godswill Obot Akpabio), what he was told before defecting to the APC. Let him ask “how market?”

And… yes, about Sandy Onor, God has a way of replacing every “Judas” with a “Mathias”. Whatever Ndoma Egba thinks he is, Sandy Onor is double of that. He is an embodiment of capacity, competency intellectuality, dependability, guts, oratory, drive, gregariousness, generosity, and everything else it takes to standout in the red chambers. As a statement of fact, if he had the kind of opportunities the then Senate Leader had enjoyed, Central Senatorial District would be a Glory land by now. To spice it all, Sandy is a fresh hand, a fresh breath. He is even better positioned for the Senate politically and geographically. In him there is hope for the youth. There is hope that people like us will not have to wait forever before we become Senators too. I will support him. I will canvass for him. I will vote for him.

Let Ndoma Egba release all that he has left of his plunder in his twelve years stint as Senator, then return to Akparabom, or better still, Daura with Mallam Jubrin, sorry, Buhari, for all that I care. For the glory has departed from him.

Leonard Akwo.

Calabar South stands still for Ayade

If the response of the mammoth crowd at the Calabar South residence of Dr. Inyang Asibong where the entire Calabar South constituents were hosted by the wife of the Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Linda Ayade is anything to go by, then Calabar South is already in the bag come March, 2019, for the Governor and the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The event witnessed the distribution of Christmas largesse organized by the Wife of the Governor to the women and youths of the constituency as she felicitates' them whilst canvassing for support for the Governor, as it was dedicated to the re-election campaign of His Excellency, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade, and

The Chief Organizer of the event, Dr. Inyang Asibong said the event is one of many she has been giving back to the society, but this is very special to her as it is dedicated to the re-election campaign of the supersonic Governor of the State, High Chief (Sen.) (Prof.) Benedict Bangashuye Ayade.

In attendance was the wife of the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Mrs. Omotunde Ivara Esu, the Senator representing the Southern Senatorial District of the State, Sen. Gershom Bassey, the Member Representing Calabar South, Calabar Municipality, Akamkpa and Bakassi Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Apostle Essien Ayi, the members representing Calabar South Constituency 1, Hon. Joseph Bassey, and Constituency 2, Hon. Ephraim Okon. Also present was the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Barr. Rosemary Archibong, and her colleague in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Hon. Stella Odey, the Director General of the Ayade Campaign Organization, Barr. Effiok Cobham and a host of other dignitaries who took turns to air their unwavering support to the Ayade Movement.

There was an array of cultural and traditional displays, musical performances and dances to the satisfaction of the crowd who cheered uncontrollably as they made merry amidst airing their support for His Excellency.

THE REASON WHY YOUTHS MUST VOTE ATIKU/OBI2019.

The youth of our country Nigeria constitutes the largest demographics of the nation's polity yet ironically the most used without being properly empowered in a manner equal to the contributions and sacrifices made towards the development of the nation's democracy. The entire system from every indication is not youth friendly and the political class who should have help change the ugly narratives about this youth are ones who have continued to War the youth through some policies that appear very beautiful but lacking in sincerity and continuity and while there has been no payment for unemployed graduates then and now , political leaders who had in the time past served in public offices and have today either defected to one party to the other ,have won another political office or recieving pensions from the offices they previously occupied but ended up looting the people's common wealth .In the ensuing disappointment, frustrations and neglect that most of these youth face after several years of hardwork without any good thing coming their way many  of them have decided to brave the hazards of crossing the Mediterranean sea or the harsh Sahara desert to Europe in search of greener pastures while the rest after deciding to stay in the country and continue in the hope for better days and perhaps working tirelessly for politicians are still left to roam the margins without jobs because their needs don't matter to the people that have held them captive for years.Funnily, instead of the youth to realize this and team up against these enemies they still follow them up taking selfies either at drinking joints, political gatherings among other places as if the selfies and meals are to be counted as achievements. that why we have come as youth who will support ATIKU/OBI2019 and PDP candidates, to eliminate this incompetent GOVERNMENT.

Atiku Media press release.. We Insist on Smart Card Readers and PVCs As INEC Had Promised

ATIKU MEDIA PRESS RELEASE

We Insist on Smart Card Readers and PVCs As INEC Had
Promised

Abuja, 03 Jan, 2019:

The Presidential candidate of the
Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has noted with
deep concern, reports that contrary to its promise of 2018,
made at different times and in multiple locations, that it
would not use the controversial incident forms, the
Independent National Electoral Commission has
backtracked and decided to allow the use of the unreliable
incident forms.

This is unacceptable to the Peoples Democratic Party and
Atiku Abubakar. Any decision to use incident forms in the
February 16, 2019 elections is an attempt to toe the line of
President Muhammadu Buhari, who thrice refused to sign
the amended Electoral Act, for fear of the use of card
readers, which would prevent rigging by desperate power
mongers.

Atiku Abubakar notes that data from the 2015 elections
show that 75% of the almost 14 million people who voted
without biometric accreditation in 2015, were linked to
Muhammadu Buhari.

There are no reliable and accurate means of knowing who
those voters were and whether they were genuine voters or
sham voters. This disproportionate number of voters who
voted without biometric accreditation in 2015 affected the
integrity of those elections and we hold the INEC to its oft-
repeated promise not to use anything but the Smart Card
Readers and PVCs for the 2019 elections.

We know that the Muhammadu Buhari administration has
been desperate to avoid the use of Smart Card Readers and
PVCs for the 2019 elections and the reported volte face by
the INEC can only raise concerns about the voice of Jacob
and the hand of Esau.

Atiku Abubakar reminds the INEC that the world is watching
and Nigerians are alert to see if the present Chairman and
board of INEC would place national interests above narrow
oligarchic interest.

We further remind the Chairman of the INEC, Professor
Mahmood Yakubu of his promise to Nigerians at the Nigeria
Civil Society Situation Room National Stakeholders’ Forum
on Elections which held in Abuja on December 10, 2018,
where he said as follows:

“The commission assures Nigerians that the smart card
reader has become an integral part of the electoral process
and will be deployed for the conduct of the 2019 general
elections. The commission has taken onboard the
challenges and glitches faced in the use and deployment of
smart card readers in 2015 and has made significant
improvements and upgrade to the said smart card readers.”

Our question is this - what has changed between December
10, 2018 and today? Has Professor Mahmood Yakubu caved
into pressures from anti-democratic forces?

At ₦143 billion, it is safe to say that more than enough
funds were appropriated for the INEC to acquire and
distribute Smart Card Readers, as such there is no reason
for this 180 degree turn.

The job of the INEC is to give Nigerians a level playing field
and an election that reflects the will of the people and not
that of their oppressors. These reports do not incite hope.
Not at all.

We once again want to sound the alarm that only the strict
use of Smart Card Readers and PVCs can guarantee free,
fair and credible elections that will be accepted by Nigerians
and the international community.

Signed:

Paul Ibe
Media Adviser to HE Atiku Abubakar

JETTISON YOUR RIGGING PLANS IN CROSS RIVER AND TEST YOUR ACCLAIMED POPULARITY AND ACCEPTABILITY BY THE ELECTORATES WITH OUR DIGITAL GOVERNOR, SEN BEN AYADE AT THE POLLS COME 2019. AMBJERRY ODEY

As we look foward to the 2019 general elections, with campaign machineries set in motion with a view to secure a second term for Sen. Ben Ayade (THE BEST YOUTH GOVERNOR EVER IN THE HISTORY OF CROSS RIVER STATE) it has come to our knowledge that, there are plans perfected by some desperate gubernatorial candidates to rig the 2019 election in our dear state, cross river state. It was further revealed that such planns are being aimed at election cancellations in some local governments to give room for rerun following which the results will be declared in their favour.

We the youth of this state and indeed the entire electorates say "NO" to this manipulative strategies that has expercially in recent times characterized our electoral process leading to the loss of confidence in the electoral body to conduct a free, fair and credible elections.

How PDP will make Nigeria work again, by Peter Obi

03 January 2019

Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, Mr. Peter Obi, has disclosed how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would make the country work again. He said the problem with Nigerian was more because of the inefficiency in programme implementation, rather than policy formulation.

Obi stated this during a live interview on Channels Television.According to him: “This All Progressives Congress (APC) government has for long formulated different, beautiful policies, but the problem is with implementation.”

Obi said: “The Atiku government would concentrate on project implementation to a measurable level that Nigerians would see, feel and appreciate.”On how many megawatts of power Atiku government would add, Obi who insisted that four years was enough for meaningful improvement in the sector, said there was a clear roadmap that would be discussed in details during longer programmes.

The PDP running mate criticised the present government for its lack of proper projects implementation and transparency. He stressed that the quantum of money already borrowed did not match the projects that were actually executed. He concluded that the problem is not with borrowing, but actually in utilising the money borrowed for productive projects, rather than consumption and waste, as rampantly witnessed in Nigeria till today.

“To get Nigeria working again, the inefficiency, incompetence, and anti- people policies that have long characterised the APC-led government of Nigeria must be reversed,” he said.

Meanwhile, ex-governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, says only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) truly exists in the state. He made the statement when Governor Ben Ayade led some PDP members to visit him at his country home in Itigidi, Abi Local Council Area to mark the New year.Addressing the crowd and party supporters, Imoke stressed the need for the party to be united as one family, and thanked Ayade for sustaining the PDP’s family yearly tradition in over 20 years, of gathering at his home every first of January.

But, the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in the state, Senator John Owan Enoh accused Ayade’s government of not being able to stand competition.Owan, who blamed the government of pulling down his campaign billboards, said Ayade could not stand the sight, hence he ordered his agents to pull them down, despite having paid N2 million-billboard fee.

Similarly, the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has declared that the re-election of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State “is going to be a walkover by God’s grace,” citing his outstanding performance and uncommon leadership style.

2019! See Who Yerima Shettima says can move Nigeria Forward.

2019: Only Atiku can move Nigeria forward, says Shattima .

2 Jan, 2019

- According to him, the Buhari's administration is filled with lies and deceit
Leader of the Northern Youth Coalition, Yerima Shettima, has declared that only the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar That can move Nigeria forward.

Shettima, who stated this in a chat with The Guardian, said the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has nothing to offer Nigerians.

He urged Nigerians not to repeat the mistake of voting for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election, stressing that the APC government is filled with 'lies and deceit.'

According to him, Atiku would win the election and help in taking Nigeria out of the woods.

His words: “The ruling APC had at all levels indulged in cheap deception, especially in the first two years that it came to power.

“The year 2018 is one particular moment in the history of Nigeria that I will never forget in a hurry. Elected leaders from local government to the presidency were committing a lot blunders.”

He expressed concern about the economy, which has been worst hit, as it seems Nigerians will hopelessly move into 2019 with an embarrassingly weak naira.

“A naira on a free fall for three years has exposed the lies and deceit of the ruling party. For now, it is obvious that the lies and deceit of the past four years have come to an end,” he added.

Meanwhile, the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 New Year speech as
''pathetically empty.''

The party said the president could not articulate any concrete commitment on any sector of Nigeria during the speech.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng on Tuesday, January 1 by its director, media and publicity, Kola Ologbodiyan, the campaign organisation also said the president could not point to any single achievement he made in the out-going year.
