If You don't Have Electricity Meter, Don't Pay more Than N1,800 a Month- NERC

The National electricity regulatory commission, NERC, on Wednesday, February 25, 2020, directed all the 11 electricity distribution companies in the country to stop billing consumers who have not been metered, more than 1,800 a month.

There has been a public outcry from consumers in the country, over outrageous bills they receive at the end of the month, even when they have not been provided with meters by the Discos.

With this latest development, all residential houses that are unmetered before April, shall not be invoiced. 78 kilowatt per hour monthly equals N1,800.

Nigeria vs Argentina: Drogba warns Eagles against defensive approach

Nigeria vs Argentina: Drogba warns Eagles against defensive approach

   By Eje peter
Former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba has advised the Super Eagles to keep to their style of play if they are to go far at the 2018 World Cup.
The Eagles kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stages after beating Iceland 2-0 in their second Group D match on Friday. They play Argentina on Tuesday in their last group match and must avoid a defeat to qualify from the group.

Drogba, who is a columnist for the World Cup with BBC Sport, said on Saturday that the Eagles must keep to their aggressive and fast style of playing if they want to go far at the tournament.
The former Chelsea striker said, “It has been a disappointing start to the World Cup for Africa – until Nigeria beat Iceland on Friday. There had been six defeats in seven games for the five African countries in Russia. So it was great to see the Super Eagles win, but the way they did it was just as important and impressive.
“In the second half, Nigeria came to life and played the way I want to see all the African teams play – going on the attack, using their pace and power, and having lots of shots. That is what I did not see in their first game against Croatia, when Nigeria were playing within themselves – keeping a good shape, playing safe, and passing the ball from side to side.
“This time, they went out just to win. They played with two strikers and they were so fast and aggressive going forward that they frightened Iceland. They were spontaneous and exciting, which is the way I expected them to play at this World Cup – and that is why they won the game.

“The point I am making is that they need to keep their identity as a team. It is important they keep doing that if they are going to reach the last 16. If they decide to stay defensive and start fearing conceding goals, they will be going home.”

Nigeria vs Argentina: Iheanacho, Balogun sound Eagles battle cry

Nigeria vs Argentina: Iheanacho, Balogun sound Eagles battle cry

   By Eje peter
KelechiIheanacho  and Leon Balogun have sounded the battle cry to their Super Eagles teammates telling them they must play at full throttle in Tuesday’s match against crisis-ridden Argentina  in Saint Petersburg  to realise their dreams of  reaching the second round of the 2018 World Cup.
Ahmed Musa’s classy brace in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 defeat of  World Cup  debutants Iceland in Volgograd on Friday gave a below-par Lionel Messi-led La Albiceleste, who were on the verge of exit from Russia 2018,  a lifeline.
Two-time world champions Argentina, who were humiliated by Croatia 3-0,  are desperate for victory  over Nigeria at  Saint Petersburg Stadium to avoid an early return home.
Twenty-five-year-old Musa, whose Instagramfollowers increased by 70 per cent since his goals revived the Eagles’ World Cup  hopes after their opening defeat to Croatia, will again be the focus in the encounter.
Leicester City forward Iheanacho, who started in Gernot Rohr’s 3-5-2 formation with Musa against Iceland, warned his colleagues not to take chances in Tuesday’s clash.
“The win against Iceland is going to be a boost for us to play Argentina,” the UAE 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Cup winner   said ahead of  the Saint Petersburg match.
The former Manchester City player warned his teammates they must not take their eyes off Messi despite his poor form in the tournament.
“I like Messi but against us I hope he stays quiet,” the 21-year-old said.
New Brighton defender Balogun echoed his teammate’s thoughts, saying they should stop Messi from producing moments of individual magic in the encounter.
The 29-year-old former Mainz player said, “We have learnt to play more patiently, and have confidence in ourselves. We have to close all the passes to Messi to leave him out of the game.”

Maradona to meet Argentina players ahead of Eagles clash.

Maradona to meet Argentina players ahead of Eagles clash.

   By Eje peter
Diego Maradona has requested a meeting with Argentina’s players in an attempt to inspire the struggling squad ahead of their crucial final World Cup group game against Nigeria.
The two-time world champions must beat Nigeria in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday if they are to avoid a premature exit following a disastrous 3-0 defeat by Croatia.
He said he would bring along other Argentina greats of the past for the motivational talk.
“I would love to hold a meeting with them, with (Nery) Pumpido, with (Sergio) Goycochea, with (Claudio) Caniggia, with (Pedro) Troglio, even with (Daniel) Passarella if he wants to come, and with (Jorge) Valdano,” Maradona told Venezuelan TV channel Telesur.
“We’re going to defend our honour, boys. It cost us too much to be where we are for Croatia to come and hit us for three goals and to leave with our arms crossed without anyone putting a foot in.”
Maradona, who has criticisedcoach Jorge Sampaoli and striker Sergio Aguero in recent days, also took aim at Argentina Football Association (AFA) president Claudio Tapia in his latest outburst.
“I’m furious and very upset inside, because anyone who wore that (Argentina) shirt can’t see it being trampled like that by a Croatian team that isn’t Germany, that isn’t Brazil, that isn’t Holland or Spain,” he said.
“But there is a guilty party and the culprit is the president of the AFA. Everyone just accepted it when Sampaoli came in with computers, with drones, with 14 assistants.
“I think there is a total lack of authority on Tapia’s part.”
Javier Mascherano, one of the squad’s senior players, denied on Sunday that there was a rift between Sampaoli and the players.
