Breaking: Buhari Bows to pressure, Suspends Ruga Settlement Projects

By editor - 2 mins ago
By Olawale Olaleye

Following public outcry and the seeming misconception about the Ruga Settlement Projects, an idea designed to stem the tide of herdsmen/farmers clashes across the country, President Muhammadu Buhari is said to have suspended the idea pending further notice, THISDAY has learnt.

The president, after consultations with stakeholders, THISDAY gathered, has resolved to put away the idea for a thorough review and well acceptable approach to the menace constituted to national security by the constant clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

A presidency source that hinted at this development, said the announcement would be made any moment from now with detailed explanations, going forward.

CCTV Clip: PDP Condemns Assault, Summons Senator Abbo

July 3, 2019

Press Statement

The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to a CCTV footage relating to allegations of malfeasance by a senator elected on the platform of the PDP, Senator Elisha Abbo.

The PDP, as a law-abiding and upstanding party, detests and completely condemn such act of lawlessness and callousness as exhibited in the video and will therefore never condone it.

Our party is also shocked that the harmless victim of the unprovoked assault is said to be a nursing mother, who ought to be protected.

Though this is a personal conduct of an individual which has no bearing with the culture of our party, the PDP however holds that no responsible person will condone such an attitude.

In the light of this, the NWC has commenced investigation into the matter and summons Senator Elisha Abbo in line with the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP and code of conduct of our members.

In the same vein, the party has taken note of the immediate action taken by the Senate.

The PDP, at all levels of engagement, is reputed for her utmost respect and commitment towards the rights, safety and wellbeing of our citizens, particularly our women and cannot tolerate any callous assault on any Nigerian.

The PDP therefore assures Nigerians that it will always stand on the side of justice and will never spare a thought in taking action on any of its members found wanting, particularly those elected or appointed into public offices.

You won’t believe what Messi said after Argentina’s 2-0 loss to Brazil

Lionel Messi’s hopes of winning an international trophy with Argentina this year was cut short by the Samba Boys of Brazil after La Albiceleste fell to a 2-0 loss in Belo Horizonte.

After the game, Messi who is known to very reserved to making daring comments surprised many football fans by accusing the referees of favouring the host nation as Argentina crashed out of the competition in the semi-final stage. The Albiceleste once again fell short and their superstar player appears to have laid some of the blame on officials.

The Argentina captain again failed to have a decisive impact in the match for his nation compared to how he performs for his club side Barcelona as Brazil took the most of their opportunities with goals to Manchester City stars Gabriel Jesus and Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino in either half sealing a place in the final against either Chile or Peru.

But the Barcelona captain was scathing of the performance from the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and the centre referee Roddy Zambrano, using a post-match interview to criticise the decision to not award a penalty to Sergio Aguero just prior to Firmino’s 71st minute strike.

“They were not better than us. They found the net early and the second goal came from a penalty [to Aguero] they didn’t award,” Messi told reporters. “They [the officials] had booked a lot of bullsh*t, but they didn’t even check the VAR, that’s incredible.

“That happened all over the game. At the first glance of contact, they ruled in their [Brazil’s] favour and this kind of bullsh*t distracted us from the game. “There is no excuses for us, but we need to review this, analyse it and let’s hope CONMEBOL does something about it.

“I think we played a great game. We made a great effort and they were not superior to us.”

Argentina had 10 more shots at Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson than their opponents managed in attack (14-4) and struck the woodwork twice as they came agonisingly close to getting back into the contest. Aguero looped a header onto the crossbar with Alisson well-beaten in the first-half shortly after Jesus earned the lead and Messi slammed a shot into the post in the second period after Lautaro Martinez’s drive was blocked.

The Selecao took both of their chances clinically, only having four shots for the match, as Jesus and Firmino both side-footed into the net from close range after being teed up by the other.

Brazil will now host the winner of Wednesday’s semi-final between Chile and Peru in a final to be hosted on Sunday at the great Maracana Stadium. They will be aiming to win their first Copa America since triumphing in Venezuela during the 2007 edition.

Do you agree with Messi that the official were to be blamed for their loss or Argentina were not good enough to beat Brazil? Share your view on this in the comment section below… Thanks

Senator Abbo’s Wife Speaks On Husband Assaulting Lady

ASenator Elisha Abbo‘s wife, Emily Eric, has declared that her husband is innocent of all allegations levelled against him.

Naija News had reported that Senator Abbo (PDP-Adamawa North), Nigeria’s youngest senator, was caught hitting the woman after she begged him not to assault the shopowner whom the lawmaker accused of insulting him.

It was gathered that the assault occurred on May 11 a month before he was sworn in on June 11.

The assault was reported on May 14 at the Maitama Area Command Headquarters on Nile Street, but the police told the victim to go look for the Senator’s telephone number or they would not be able to do anything about it.

Reacting in a post that has since been deleted from Facebook, Emily backed her husband.

She wrote: “I stand with you babana. And we will always stand for truth.

“My husband is innocent of what people are saying against him.”

Synagogue Church of All Nations reacts to rape allegation against T.B Joshua with evidence [Video]

By Don Omajemite

RELATED TOPICS: The Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has reacted to the video making the rounds on social media where a placard-carrying woman accused its founder, Prophet T. B Joshua of rape.
DAILY POST reported on Sunday that a woman had surfaced, levelling a rape allegation against T.B Joshua.
SCOAN described the lady as me
ntally ill in a statement made available to DAILY on Tuesday.

The statement read, “Since the beginning of the week, one of the topic that hasn’t left the mouth of the public is the rape issue happening everywhere, there has been allegations on men of God and one of the most recent is that of Prophet TB Joshua, the founder of Synagogue church of all nations.

“A lady, identified as Bisola Johnson has been parading herself as a victim of rape by the man of God, in the light of Biodun Fatoyinbo’s case.

“She revealed that she was kept captive in SCOAN for 14 years and was raped for same 14 years by Prophet TB Joshua.
‘In response to this, the church has released a video of the said woman during her first appearance in the church, she made it known in the video that she willingly came to SCOAN for deliverance from the spirit of death and after some time, she vanished.
“It will also be recalled that she came up some years back to make same allegations but because of the unbelievable story, she didn’t get the attention of people which is why she came up now with her story now that rape is trending.”

Use Cross River little resources judiciously — Blogger begs Ayade

The Cross River State fastest growing entrepreneur and a blogger, Jake Clifford has appealed to the governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade to use the only state's own resources judiciously so as to complete all his signature projects in his second term.

Continuing, the blogger further lament that it's pitiable to note that Cross River state under the President Mohammadu's Buhari administration has not been favourable to the state, given that most of the meaningful signature projects under Ben Ayade's administration had suffered lack of federal government attention.

"It is sad to note that, the Buhari's government has failed to support most of the governor Ayade's policies and programs, mostly projects that would have added value and generated more revenue to the state.

The blogger who lays emphasized on some of the governor's elephant projects in Calabar, said it is not enough to advertise uncompleted projects as already working industries to the general public and occupied people's land without using it for what it was meant for.
The superhighway, designed to cut across at least 16 local government areas, is one of the signature projects of the administration of the governor, Ben Ayade. It is meant to link the South-south state with Nigeria’s North-central region, through Benue State.
Besides the initial clearing of some sections of the huge Cross River rainforest to pave way for it, the road project was delayed for more than three years after ground-breaking was done by President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2015, during the governor's first term.
In what appears a sign of its eventual take off, the Cross River government on February 17 this year wrote to the state House of Assembly, seeking approval for an irrevocable standing payment order (ISPO) of N300 million monthly in favour of Sydney Construction Nigeria Ltd for the construction of the six-lane road project.
The contract for the superhighway is N648.8billion, according to the letter to the lawmakers, signed by the former Secretary to the Cross River State government, Tina Agbor, yet nothing has been done as it concerns the Governor Ayade's Dual Carriageway.

“The tragedy of it all is that while Gov. Ben Ayade is busy masturbating his ego, traveling from one country to another searching for 'half bake' and 'kindergarten' investors all in the name of trying to revamp the country's number one tourism state to its Eldorado, the governor also need to have a rethink, that if he had a motive of siphoning the state only limited resources through his caricature projects spread across the state, the law will come after him, maybe after the expiration of his eight years as Cross River State Governor.

“The Blogger wishes to draw the attention of Gov. Ben Ayade to the fact that Cross River State is not rich and there is no reason why the governor should give false impression to his party members and other Nigerians to the contrary and think of looting state fund to his private pocket as Nigeria politicians usually do".

"I pray that God gives you the strength in all your efforts and ideology to transform Cross River State to the country's number one industrial hub".

Ayade spits fire: We want our oil wells back.

In apparent frustration with the Federal Government’s neglect of the state, Cross River governor, Senator Ben Ayade has asked for the return of its 76 oil wells ceded to Akwa Ibom State in 2012 following the ruling of the Supreme Court.
Cataloguing what he described as unconscionable injustices meted out to the state by the Federal Government, Ayade listed the ceding of Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon, the ceding of the state’s 76 oil and the non-reimbursement of what the state has spent on federal roads as some instances of unfair treatment of the state.
The governor made his feelings known during a courtesy call on him by the commander of the joint military taskforce, Operation Delta Safe (ODS), Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade.
He said the ceding of the oil-rich peninsula was illegal and therefore, the loss of oil wells was an act of gross injustice.
“Even the implementation of the Supreme Court judgement that emphasized clearly that Cross River must continue to enjoy stabilization support in perpetuity for the loss of oil well has since been stopped. We are tired and so we want our oil wells back,” he declared.
The governor also deplored the refusal by the Federal Government to admit members of a militant group, the Bakassi Strike Force into its amnesty programme after the state government facilitated their surrender of arms to the military.
His words: “It was even at the instance of your own (military) request that we came to the ultimate conclusion that we needed to grant amnesty. Sadly, shortly after the disarmament and demobilization exercise, the burden therefrom rests wholly on the shoulders of Cross River State. Now as you are moving into the rehabilitation and reintegration phase, here we are being called upon yet again to provide the financial support for it to be achieved.
“Let me send you a message to the National Security Adviser and indeed to Mr. President, to tell him that the people of Cross River State are watching with keen interest how other people who were granted amnesty in other states are responsibilities of Federal Government and how our own people have been allowed to gradually regress to where to left to embrace peace.
“Not even one person from the entire list has been taken by the Federal Government for any form of amnesty programme nor has a dime been paid to any of them. What has Cross River done wrong in this country? Please send this message to Mr. President that we want to know what Cross River has done wrong, particularly now that you have noticed that some camps are coming back to live again after the disarmament and demobilization”.
Continuing, he said: “Ordinary amnesty, Cross Riverians cannot benefit from it. Have oils well become everything? If it is oil wells, we have also issued a report showing oil deposits in Cross River both inland and offshore. How can a state that has a very extensive maritime boundary be told that it is not a littoral state? How can you grant amnesty to other states and give them international opportunities and exposures, bring them back, engage them and pay them monthly yet you exclude Cross Riverians? What have we really done wrong?
“You take our oil wells, take our land, we are not even in NDDC and ordinary amnesty you cannot provide for Cross River? We have been on our knees begging that we have found oil, can you give us discretional license to partner with a third party to do exploration and pay loyalties to government. Until now we have not gotten any response.”
The governor also expressed unhappiness that the state is yet to be reimbursed for interventions on federal roads even when other states have been reimbursed.
While pleading with President Buhari to assist the state survive and realisze its deep vision projects including the Bakassi Deep Seaport and the 274km superhighway, he pleaded that if the state has in any way offended the Federal Government, then the state should be forgiven.
According to the governor, “Cross River has come under so much abuse recently. Must they kill us because we are peaceful? If there is anything Cross River has done to the Federal Government, let the Federal Government forgive Cross River because these things have been there even before I assumed duty as governor.
He disclosed that the state was building an estate for the displaced people of Bakassi. The estate, he said will be ready in about a month.
Despite his frustration with the Federal Government, he promised to assist the Operation Delta Safe with N50 million.
Earlier, the Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Akirinade, lauded the governor for his commitment to peace, security and development of Cross River.
The Commander who appealed to the governor for support to ensure the rehabilitation of and reintegration of the militants in order to prevent them from regrouping, said: “Thanks to the strategic initiative of granting amnesty to the Bakassi Strike Force. Though the disarmament and demobilization was done successful, but the rehabilitation and reintegration which is the most critical phase is yet to be achieved, which is why I appeal to His Excellency to see to the fulfilment of this exercise.”

Jubilation As C'River House Of Assembly confirms Eba's appointment

July 02,2019

There was wild jubilation in Calabar, Cross River State  capital, and other communities, on Tuesday, as people trooped out en masse to celebrate as the Cross River State House of Assembly under the leadership of Hon Etem Jonah Williams confirmed Hon.Barrister Alphonsus Ogar Eba , as the Director General of Due process and Price intelligence Bureau,Cross River State.

Across the state and particularly in the state capital, Calabar residents,Party supporters and friends went on jubilation as Eba took a bow before the lawmakers after a breath-taking screening session during which the lagal guru dazzled the lawmakers with brilliant tackling of questions posed to him.

As Eba took the bow, residents poured onto the streets in jubilation. Relaxation joints bubbled, as friends served free drinks.

Friends and family members and his supporters in the  State, religious and community leaders and eminent personalities described the confirmation as a reward for hard work and vision he exuded in his first tenure as the Director General of Due process and Price intelligence Bureau.

They urged Eba to continue to show capacity and pursue his vision of human development in his new appointment.

"This is a new beginning of greater heights in your life, which we believe you will exploit to advance the course of representative governance anchored on human development, which you championed over the years in your journey to political governance".

Ruga and religion, the tricks involved

Ruga has come to stay is the word now from both the presidency and her supporters. In supporting this stand, the presidency have told those who cares to listen that the Jonathan's presidency which is now the bench mark for Buhari' s presidency, had also budgeted 100billion Naira for the same project but the money was misused. As a means to adding more legitimacy to why there should be RUGA, the presidency questioned if people would have reacted this way if the project was implemented by the Jonathan's presidency. This explanations by the presidency and her supporters and the rush to use Jonathan as a means to why people should support RUGA  shows there is more to the RUGA project than we are told.

There are questions the presidency must answer to put more light on why RUGA has come to stay.

1. Is this project not a National Policy, why the name RUGA?
2. Is RUGA not a Fulani language?
3. If RUGA is a Fulani language why use it to tag a National Policy?
4. If Jonathan had implemented it earlier, will it have been right to use Ijaw language?
5. Will Daura people have been happy to see a settlement in Daura bearing Ijaw name?
6. Why has the core northern States not key into the RUGA project, is it because Fulani have conquered those states and so, needs more other place to conquer?
7. Did the presidency not tell us that the people attacking Nigerians are remnants of Muamah Ghadafi' s fighters from Lybya and Fulanis from Chad, Niger and Mali?
8. Has the presidency position changed on question 7 above?

9. If the presidency position has not changed on question 7 above, is Buhari now establishing RUGA for  Chadians, Malians and Libyan snippers?

10. To give it a National spread and to accomdate everybody, will it not have been normal for the presidency to ask States to come up with their names?

For those who may not know, the religious angle to the implementation of the RUGA policy is secondary, the main aim is Fulani supremacy. In conquering northern Nigeria, the Fulanis used religion and have used it to sustained all their policies and quest to forever make the inhabitants of that region their subject. This has remained so with the use of religion to legitimize every act of the Fulanis in Northern Nigeria and these is gradually being extended to the South West region of Nigeria.

The decision to choose the RUGA name by the Buhari's  presidency is deliberate to secure the support of the Talakawas and other Muslims who will support the program without asking questions. Did the presidency  look at the future implication of establishing Fulani communities that will not respect the culture and tradition of the host communities  in all these states? Evidence abound in states like Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Benue,  Kogi, Nasaarawa where immediately Fulani will settle in, in parts of place given to them, they will begin to demand for a first class chief who will not be answerable to anybody. The rejection of Ruga by Nigerians should not be seen as a Moslem/Christian struggle, but a fight against future Fulani attacks.

The presidency just said that the program is not compulsory, but voluntary to States who will want to partake, what then was Ruga signpost doing in Benue State against the stand of Benue State government and the desire of her people? The presidency should know that even some states that have indicated interest to be part of it, have done so out of fear and behind the scene coercion by the Buhari presidency. Given an option, some of those State governors will not want to be part of it because they know that RUGA  is an invitation of death and Crisis upon the people.

Why not keep the RUGA in Kano that has willingly accepted this offer before it was made?
