Covid-19: Concerned C'River Blogger writes fellow Cross Riverians.

...Sues for pragmatic sensitization in the rural areas.

...Calls on NCDC boss to release Cross River Covid-19 test kits

A blogger in Cross River State Mr. Ogar Solomon Ogar CEO SolomonIslandBlog has written a passionate letter to his fellow Cross Riverians on the need to support the Cross River State Government in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus ravaging the entire nations of the earth.

Ogar cautioned that, now isn't the time for distractions, criticism, name calling, politics, etc, but the time to take decisive and collaborative effort towards curbing the deadly pandemic.

He reiterated that, the virus has gotten to almost all the neighboring states of Cross River thereby creeping gradually to Cross River State.

While commending the State Commissioner for health,Dr. Betta Edu for her efforts thus far, Ogar also charges the Commissioner to intensify more efforts and spread her tentacles to the rural area. He thereafter, called on the Chief Executive Officer of the National Center For Disease Control NCDC to release Covid-19 test kits meant for Cross River State so testing can commence in the state.

"Dear Cross Riverians,

With the first index case of Covid-19 confirmed in Benue State which shares a common boundary with us, it is very glaring that the virus is creeping very close to our dear state, meaning we are all highly susceptible.

At this point in time, all hands must be on deck to support the preparedness of the state government through the sensitization drive of the State Ministry of Health against any possible outbreak in the state.

What we need now is support and not distractions or criticisms. Criticism is not necessary at this point at all. All hands across board devoid of personal or party interests must be on desk to fight the pandemic else we will all be channelling our energies at the  wrong direction.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu has just announced that the NCDC have expanded the number of their laboratories with the capacity to test for #COVID19 to 6 with the inclusion of the Virology Laboratory of University College Hospital, Ibadan. Tomorrow, they will be in Abakaliki to set up another laboratory as they quickly ramp up #COVID19 testing capacity in Nigeria. This is good as Abakaliki is not far from us.

I have gathered reliably that the NCDC Boss, Dr Ihekweazu is yet to release and send Test Kits for COVID-19 to Cross River State. About Twenty Thousand (20,000) of the test kits are still in his possession for distribution but he is yet to release that of Cross River State.

Please, I want to use this medium to call on all well meaning Cross Riverians to use our wide contacts to call on the  NCDC boss to release  Test kits for COVID-19 meant for Cross River State. If we do so, it will be of immerse benefit to our dear state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu is trying her best to update us on Covid-19 in the state. Since the outbreak in the country, she has not rested on her oars to keep us abreast of developments in her ministry. We are in a very critical and trying moment as a people in the state. Let us give her our support for her to concentrate and be focused. Throwing jibes and tantrums at her at this moment is not the solution.

#COVID-19 is a serious issue and is not a respecter of anyone. Our people at the rural communities needs more sensitization and awareness. The Commissioner for Health and her team needs to do more in this direction to avail them first hand information of the  pandemic.

Once again, let us support the government in the fight against the pandemic and avoid all unnecessary criticisms and distractions."

Thank you.
