Below is the full speech of Bravo at the event...

I want to say a big thank you to the initiator of this laudable programme and the participants who have taken out time to be here this morning.

This programme wouldn't have come at a better time than now, most especially as it is better to be late than never. I sincerely appreciate the organisers for putting up this initiative because they have shared in our purpose for the unity,  betterment and development of our dear people.

With this initiative, I am rest assured that Yala is poised to recover her lost glory because if the older generation had conceived and implemented this idea before now, we wouldn't have been stagnated as it is today,  but like they say, "no man becomes, except he begins". This is indeed the beginning of great beginnings for us as a people to harness our ideas,  plan and motivate our people to achieve a greater and more prosperous Yala Nation.

We must not allow our background to put us backwards, rather it should be a motivation and propelling factor to strive to achieve heights never thought of, we must push for a purpose driven polity and eschew bitter rivalry for selfish gains, our story from this moment hence shall be that of unity of purpose and the good of our fatherland, words like I, me, my, and mine should be replaced with we, our, and ours. This is the solution for individualism.

We as youths must do everything possible to outshine our forebears and current crop of leaders, how can we achieve this? With determination, courage, and can do attitude, we must kill fear and the only thing we must do, is to kill the fear in us in order to be bold and fearless to chart a course for more unified and prosperous Yala, we are often times too careful and seem to be too satisfied with everything including nothing, we sing praises to our own detriment where we are supposed to condemn and ask for more like Olivier Twist, we prefer peanuts and food on the table to a permanent job, we are too afraid to be successful, too timid to speak up against our failed and failing leaders, we mistake constructive criticisms to insults and prefer to die in silence.

That leaders of tomorrow and future leaders that our leaders promised and deceived us decades ago must and should start today for the future is now, for some of us we have started years back to be self-reliant and independent, we have as well taken bold step against all odds to speak against the ills of those in authority, we have been able to give some of our brothers and sisters jobs directly and indirectly, for us no sacrifice is too big and we are not resting on our oars. It has been quite challenging but the rewards and gains that accrue to our people are gratifying.

The task ahead for rebuilding, refocusing, re-energizing and strengthening our developmental strides begins this moment and I enjoin all to be watchful and prayerful, bearing in mind that to be successful in business, politics, and life, it is not about the godfather you worship or the godmother you sing praises to but God Almighty, for it is better to be indebted to man than to be indebted to God.

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS US ALL

GABRIEL BRAVO OLUOHU (JP)
AMAC SUPERVISORY COUNCILOR FOR HEALTH.
