Project 1000©: The Journey continues.

In the past year we have mobilized and connected the young people of Yala from all across the globe, now is the time to Empower ourselves across economic lines,  build capacity for all round growth and acquire life skills to be of service to the people of #Yala; leveraging on ourselves, new technologies and harnessing our resources in developing and implementing the Yala blueprint.

We have come so far in this past year yet we are farther from our goals. Are we there yet? Are the visions birthed from the conferences a reality yet? We must not rest on our oars. It is not yet time to give up, it is not yet time to complain about the many failures we have encountered along this journey. This is the time to count our victories, count our blessings and unite now more than ever, to build this nation called Yala!

The Project 1000© journey continues, the visions burning brighter, enabled by the union of professionals across the many divides of our beautiful fatherland.

We must ensure and enforce the change we so desire; for the time is upon us to decide how posterity will judge us. We must deliberately tow a different path to ensure the future generation stake a claim in the development of Yala land. We have work to do comrades, we must shine forth and express this in visible actions, there is a rebirth in progress. We want commitment from all of you beloved comrades...we want your support.

Arise and be counted so your memory will not be swept away with the sands of time. Be a change maker, be a Project 1000© partner, come and create a change in our society, we need you, Yala needs you most!

It is important to note that we are not all knowing, therefore; we call on everyone to come help shape this vision to become a thriving reality.

We promise you that on this movement, you will grow and learn amazing things that would make you a better citizen of high value to yourself,  your family and community.

Just last week, an opportunity came that will be a life transformer for the youths of #Yala,
_ an extensive training on specific Erasmus+ opportunities, winning proposal writing, fund raising for community projects, general project management skills, negotiations, and general knowledge for community service developments by the WE AfriHug and its Nigeria partners Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution and the Impact world team took a bold step to speak to few elder brothers, Attorney Godwin Offionor (which we should bring to Facebook),  Alphonsus Ogar Eba, Gabriel Bravo Oluohu, Omaga Odo, Oko Sunday Ebeku Ebriku John Friday, we thought really cared about the future of our dear #Yalaland and to our amazement we saw the practicality of this principle of greatness we hold dearly in our hearts 💕.

It was a difficult time, yes we knew.
The notice was short no doubt. But, the true spirit of greatness roar within great people and their tremendous response was amazing.

Thank you sirs, we are grateful to God we have a shoulder like yours to lean on.

*IMPACT FOUNDATION FOR YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT and board advisers, meets with the WEAFRIHUG team from Greece and Ghana ahead of the Civil Society Organisation Training*

Training Seminar on Erasmus+ and Capacity building on Project Management. A practical training that will take place 15th-18th of April. Target group: Youth workers engaged in Civil Society Organizations facilitated by WEAfriHug team from Greece.

The workshop registration will begin on (Monday ) morning at 9:30 a.m. with the “Welcome” beginning at 10:00 a.m. We will adjourn at 1:00 p.m. each day.

Members of Project 1000 a solution driven citizenship forum have paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Stephen Odey.

The visit was to commend him for achievements in the basic education sector and contributions to the development of Yala Local Government Area.
Speaking during the visit, the Convener, Project 1000, Dough Onah said the visit became necessary to appreciate Dr Odey for the laudable strides in the basic education sector and his contributions to the development of Yala Local Government area, through infrastructural development, credible teaching workforce, and employment opportunities, amongst others.
Onah stated that the forum was interested in bringing growth and development to Yala Local Government Area and Cross River State through its programmes which include; Spelling bee competition organised for State and Local Government, on-going construction of Library in Yala Local Government Area, ICT training, amongst others.
According to him “We have seen the rapid decline of educational performance in Yala which you have been trying to curtail, in other to arrest this we are trying to reward academic excellence in secondary schools and tertiary institutions by organising competitive events. Last year we hosted the first Cross River State spelling bee in Ikom, we also have chess competition coming up to teach young people critical thinking,” he explained.
While soliciting support for their upcoming project, Ogar Sunday said the forum is making plans to organise a widespread Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training for SS3 students of all Government Secondary Schools to instil ‘digital skills’ which will be beneficial to them when undertaking the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
In his words “we have realised that some students have zero access to the internet or the computer before they get to write jamb which is ICT based, so the first time many of them see a computer is when they are writing the Jamb exam and it puts them at a disadvantage among their contemporaries in other States. We are working towards doing a widespread ICT training for secondary school students, we know that with you on board we will be able to achieve this.”
In his response, the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Stephen Odey, expressed gratitude to the forum for identifying with him and committing themselves to a noble cause.
He urged them to continue to support the Prof Ben Ayade’s Led administration who, he said, has done so much for the basic education sector and to extend gratitude to the Governor, for giving sons and daughters of Yala an opportunity to serve in this administration.
Dr Odey said the Board has aligned with the global shift to ICT which is why computers have been supplied to some primary and junior secondary schools in the State.
Pledging his support to the Organisation, Dr Odey said “I have listened to all the programmes you have outlined here, I am impressed that young people like you are interested in the development of your community and the state. I will collaborate with you to ensure that you achieve your objective.”

He called on sons and daughters of Yala to embrace unity and work together towards the good of the Community “I am an advocate of peace and oneness in Yala, there should not be any discrimination. There is strength in numbers, we can all work together for the betterment of Yala,” he reiterated.
The SUBEB Boss urged them to remain steadfast and dedicated to their cause despite challenges. He added that hard work, humility and intelligence will take them to greater heights.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and the warm reception received by the delegates of project 1000 by the host made it an unforgettable day for our solution driven forum.

The team arrived the office of the DG due process at about 11am but meet his absence. He came back at about 2:30pm and we all headed straight to the business of the day.

He welcomed us with a short speech and Mr dough Onah responded with a brief on why we came to fellowship with him.
After that a beautiful portrait with well crafted inspired words was presented to him.

The presentation was done by Mr Odey O. Ariel on behalf of project 1000 and few shots was taken. He was excited about the brevity of the members of project 1000 and immediately ordered that the portrait be placed at a strategic place in his office.

He spent few minutes to speak extensively to us...striking points he made was as follows.

*That project 1000 and her members should gear up and get involved in governance, because the government of today needs fresh and workable programs.

*That we should get involved in farming specifically yam, yellow maize and soya beans.

*That young professionals within the group should find a way to get their skill to be useful. More opportunities abound in our state than ever before.

*That we the young people shouldn't stop aspiring for greater achievement especially in academics. He categorically pleaded that those with first degree should pursue Masters degree and PHD as the case may be.

Finally he stressed on the 3H's which according to him has been his pillar virtues over the years

Humility
Honesty.

We thanked him for his words and Mr Ogar Sunday gave him progress report about the project 1000 farms and other project that the forum is involved in.

The meeting ended with the celebration of the birthdays of two of the delegates (Names). Champagne was popped, glasses clicked and smiles showered.

But before we left, we gave the Governors portrait to the DG, he said he ll deliver himself or try to make way that we present it ourselves. We shall follow up on this.
