The Nigeria University system especially the university of Calabar needs an astute innovator like Prof. Ayara to head the decision making arm of the institution to continue to blaze the trail of instituting positive and progressive change as exemplified by the current VC, Prof. Zana Akpagu.
Prof. Ndem Ayara Ndiyo, an ideal reformer. My love for him.
The Deputy vice Chancellor Academic, University of Calabar, Prof. Ndem Ayara Ndiyo is one asset the university system must hold onto for true transformation. In fact, Prof. Ayara should be placed at the forefront of decision making in order to drive the process of transformational change in University of Calabar.
The man is an astute innovator. Too good to be left on the sidelines by any eagle eyed administrator.
Prof. is an economist with multiple publications to his credit.
I had the privilege of stumbling on a publication he wrote. In 2017, Prof. Ayara Published a research paper titled "A dynamic analysis of education and Economic growth in Nigeria". Here he focuses on Nigeria, which has over the years invested substantially to improve the educational attainment of the labor force and to raise productivity but yet still faces declining real output and slow economic growth. The study observes that this puzzle is attributable to labor market distortions, redundancy of the workforce, benefit captured syndrome, industrial dispute and job discontinuities as well as leakages in the Nigerian society such as brain drain, among others. The paper further suggests the improvement of the education system, appropriate pricing of teachers labor and prevention of industrial disputes in order to upgrade and internalize the contributions of educational capital to economic growth in Nigeria.
This research is very significant particularly at this time of ASUU strike which deals essentially on the pricing of lecturers labour and university autonomy.
Prof. Ayara knows the onus probandi in our educational system. To me, all Prof needs to build on intellectual legacies and make the difference is the opportunity to be placed on a decision making pendulum .
Before Prof. Ayara's appointment as DVC Academic in UNICAL by the current, erudite Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Zana Akpagu, he was the Chairman of Deans, where he made so many reforms, introduced many innovative ideas. In my subsequent articles, I shall endeavor to address the several reforms and innovation Prof Ayara introduced to the university system.
I want to express my very personal appreciation to Prof Zana Akpagu for discovering and giving Prof. Ayara the opportunity to explore his innovative potentials.
