In the heat of killings in Plateau, Benue and Kaduna States by Fulani herdsmen, in Kaduna State, the governor, Nasir El-Rufai a Fulani man told the world he paid money to the killers to stop killing. In going further to justify the killings by Fulani herdsmen and why he had to pay them money to stop killing, the Governor and some other Fulani men painted a scenario, where to them, "The Fulanis never forgets, and never forgives". Meaning, they retaliates for every of their cows killed no matter how long it takes. That is the arrogance of a group and the audacity of a tribe in a country where they are a minute minority and holds no monopoly of violence.
The current response by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers to the suspension of the RUGA project which has been roundly rejected by Nigerians, is an indication that the Miyetti Allah group supported by some other Fulanis, have taken their arrogance to an extreme level and have attempted to believe that in Nigeria, they hold monopoly of violence and killing skills. That press release by Miyetti Allah in itself is an affront to both the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the sensesibilty of other tribes in Nigeria. The Miyetti Allah group said, since Nigerians have rejected the RUGA project we were told it is a National Policy that will benefit everybody, that they should not be held responsible should their people keep attacking other people. That press statement is not just criminal but treasonable and a pointer to where they derive this so much power. It is a clear direction to why there should be no RUGA anywhere in Nigeria for the mission has been revealed by their press statement.
Let it be known to Miyetti Allah , that if not for the Federal military might where if they Fulani attack, the Federal government will use its powers to stop counter attacks, there are communities and regions they will not dare trespass. It is in view of these, that I urge you Miyetti Allah to embrace peace and modern ranching, buy lands anywhere you can do that and rear your cows, we will come and buy from you at any cost.
