2019 African Freestyle Football Championship: Onyia Anthony, Blessing Faith Emerge Winners at Owerri Regional Championship




Following two successful regional auditions in Lagos and Warri, Feet ‘n’ Tricks held its third remarkable audition at the impressive Cubana Lounge, Owerri, Imo state, today, Saturday 6th July.

The event was well attended by hundreds of freestyle football fans, music enthusiasts and fun lovers in and around Owerri, with Poco Lee, street dance sensation, staying on as host of the auditions.

Feet n Tricks, organizers of the Nigerian and African Freestyle Football Championships, endorsed by the  World Freestyle Football Association, welcomed over 40 freestylers on-stage who competed for winning prizes worth hundreds of thousands of Naira, a chance to compete live at the national and continental competitions holding in September and to attend the Freestyle Football World Championship.

Participants thrilled the lively fans with sensational ball juggling skills and tricks all day. In addition, guests were also entertained by Lafin Gas and Che, a BMX Flatland cycler.

Onyia Anthony emerged winner in the Male category, following a keenly contested final with Okereke Prince while Christian Metu finished third.

In the female category, Blessing Faith emerged first after going head-to-head with Okafor Evelyn, while Nkwocha Ezinne clinched the third place position.

All top three  winners in both the male and female categories were awarded cash prizes of N100,000, N75,000 and N50,000 respectively for first, second and third place positions.

Feet n Tricks Chairman, Valentine Ozigbo, expressed his excitement at the turn out of freestyle footballers and enthusiasts which is an indication of the growth and awareness of freestyle football across Nigeria.

He also revealed that the Championships would be covered live across the Continent and beyond on multiple terrestrial and digital channels.

The final audition will take place in Nigerias capital, Abuja on the 13th of July, 2019 at the Central Park.

The grand finale is scheduled for Lagos on the 14th and 15th of September with over 100 participants representing about 30 countries expected to participate.

Last year, prizes worth more than $50,000 were won including a brand new car for the champion who was also sponsored to the World Championship.
