Yaya Toure has passed a medical in London, says agent

Yaya Toure has passed a medical in London, says agent

By Eje Peter
The ex-Ivory Coast international looks set to restart his career in the English capital, although it will not be under former mentor Manuel Pellegrini
Yaya Toure has passed a medical in London and is "close to signing a new contract", the player's agent has claimed.
Toure, 35, has been a free agent since leaving Manchester City at the end of last season.
The Ivory Coast star was linked with a move to West Ham to reunite with former City manager Manuel Pellegrini, but the Hammers boss dismissed those rumours two weeks ago.
It appears Toure is poised to complete his next move, though, with agent Dimitry Seluk stating a deal was close on Tuesday.
"Toure has passed a medical in London," he tweeted. "Yaya is close to signing a new contract."
Toure won three Premier League titles with City but left in somewhat acrimonious circumstances, when he accused manager Pep Guardiola of having "problems with Africans".
Guardiola responded to the allegation by saying: "It's a lie and he [Toure] knows it."
Toure began his professional career in Belgium with Beveren, and had spells in Ukraine, Greece and with Monaco in Ligue 1 before coming to prominence with a move to Barcelona in 2007.
After three years at Camp Nou City swooped to take Toure to the Premier League, and were repaid with eight years of sterling service that saw the midfielder become a club idol.
He made a total of 316 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens, scoring 79 goals and winning a total of six trophies.

Bianca Ojukwu begins senatorial campaign today

Bianca Ojukwu begins senatorial campaign today

By Eje Peter
The widow of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ambassador Bianco Ojukwu, will begin her senatorial campaign for the 2019  Anambra South Senatorial District on Tuesday (today).
The event, it was gathered, would take place at the Ekwulobia Township Stadium in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
Bianca, a former Ambassador of Nigeria to Spain would contest the senatorial poll on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Her late husband led APGA for over a decade during his lifetime and was at several times the presidential candidate of the party.
Ojukwu’s widow is expected to fight it out with oil magnate, Ifeanyi Uba and business mogul Nicholas Ukachukwu in the APGA primary to be held any moment soon.
Investigations show that the APGA hierarchy was amenable to her ambition as a payback time to Ojukwu who mentored the party.
Speaking on her declaration, a United States-based philanthropist, Dr Godwin Maduka, described her aspiration as a blessing to the district.
He urged the people of the district to maximise the opportunity by supporting her, adding that “she has the capacity to showcase Nigeria as a country of heroes and heroines through her academic, professional, family and political experiences.
“We know her life history. We should appreciate her for agreeing to run for a public office. I believe that Bianca Ojukwu is qualified. I am sure she had learnt a lot from her late husband, Ikemba Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Igbo supreme leader and, from her father, former governor C. C. Onoh

Driver beat up his passenger in a public vehicle.

Driver beat up his passenger in a public vehicle.

By Eje Peter
A commercial bus driver of a popular company, The Young Shall Grow,  reportedly beat up His passenger along Delta /Onitsha Express Way.

Speaking with the victim, he said "the Driver neither listen to us whenever we complain of being pressed nor does He show concern for any complaint.
So this last one that resulted to Him beating me was, a woman got to her Bus-Stop and told the Driver that She wants to alight. But the Driver pretended as not to hear this Woman. At this point ,I got pissed and decided to bang at the door vehemently. Immediately the Driver came out with His conductor and started punching my face".

He also added that ,"it was the intervention of my fellow passengers that saved me. Because I don't know what there had in mind towards me".

Breaking... COURT ORDERS ARREST OF INEC CHAIRMAN, MAHMOOD YAKUBU ~ CHANNELS TV.

01/08/2018.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the arrest of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, for failing to appear in court.

Justice Stephen Pam issued the warrant of arrest on Thursday after Mahmood’s absent in court for the third time.

The judge asked the police to effect the arrest immediately.

Justice Pam had on July 5 ordered Yakubu to appear before him to show cause why he should not be sent to prison for contempt of court.

The judge made the order for Mahmood to appear before him while ruling on a preliminary objection by INEC and its Chairman in a contempt proceeding filed by Ejike Oguebego and Chuks Okoye, Chairman and Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, respectively.

Five days later, on July 10 when the court sat again, the INEC boss did not show up with his counsel, Mr Adeboyega Awomolo, informing the court that his client had filed an appeal challenging that order at the appeal court and another appeal before the Federal High Court asking for a stay of proceedings pending the determination of the appeal.

But counsel to the plaintiff informed the court that contrary to the claims of the INEC counsel there was no material evidence before the court to stop the order of the court or the hearing.

In his ruling (on July 10), Justice Pam held that the fiat by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to hear the matter subsists.

The judge, however, adjourned the case to August 1 (today)to allow the INEC chairman to attend to his mother’s funeral but insisted that the INEC boss must appear before the court as ordered at the next sitting.

But when the court reconvened today, the INEC Chairman was absent, a development that led to the order for his arrest.

Politics... Francis Ekpo Officially announced His intention to Run... See details..

Mr Francis made this available to theeaglesvoiceblog on Wednesday.
Theeaglesvoiceblog quote verbatim Mr Ekpo's speech.  Read full statement below.

My dear brothers and sisters of Yala 1 state constituency, I do not propose to say many words today. The time has come when action rather than speech is needed. The action that precedes religious or partisan lines, the action to re-unite our families, the action to care for the aged and our retired parents, the action to build bridges across the already separated political rivers, the action to build and develop the potentials of our smart, hard working, highly intelligent and dedicated youths.

I have traversed round the eight political wards of Yala one State constituency; the stories are the same, the pictures in my subconscious are disturbing, absolutely nothing has changed, our Farm land are the same, our schools are deteriorating except for few, thanks to SUBEB, Not to talk of the cognitive and psychomotor output of our children. I couldn’t see hope on the faces of our youths, the hunger, poverty and negligence of our people is nothing to write home about.

Three of the most fundamental challenges and ordeals that heralds the collapse and poor representation in our constituency are
1. Leadership
2. Leadership
3. Leadership

Everything rises and falls on leadership. The kind of representation we have today from Yala one State constituency in the CRS House of assembly is nothing to write home about. Yala has never had it this bad. From Hon. Moses Ogble to Hon. D J Ogar, Hon. Ogalama, Hon. Mathew Ojugbor, Rt. Hon. Tom Agi, to Rt. Hon. Larry Odey.

In this revolution, research has become very central. History is not a fiction of lies but past realities, History has been vindicated to an extent that it is clearer to the blind and very audible to the deaf that from inception, yala one state constituency has always produced representatives of substance and value, but for this one.

My fellow constituents, I know you’ve been neglected in the past 37 months, don't expect miracles in the next 9 months, the story would be the same. However, we can change the story and narratives in 2019. I know you’ve wallowed in tears and disappointment, the hour of restoration has come.

Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord Saying, who will I send and who will go, Isaiah answered, here I am Lord, send me. My fellow brothers and sister, I’ve heard your call today, I have answered and I’m willing to go on this errand for you, I’m willing to be your voice in the wilderness, I’m willing to speak for you, I’m willing to be a friend that sticks more than a brother, I’m willing to be the Son that would wipe away tears of his parents, I’m willing to be your lobbyist, your negotiator, I’m willing to be your representative, I’m willing to be your law maker.

My fellow youths, the bulk of this process lies in your hands, we must guard against acquisition of unwarranted influence, weather sought or unsought, we must never give room for certain characters to endanger our destinies and future, we must kick against imposition, the voice of the people must prevail, we would take nothing for granted. my ambition is completely anchored in God with my in-depth knowledge that power comes only from God

Ladies and gentlemen, my fellow constituents, it is on this note that I hereby declare my intention to contest for a seat in the Cross River State house of Assembly to represent the good people of Yala one state constituency.
Let's do this together...
We rise by lifting others...
And together, we can achieve the extraordinary.

Thank you, and God bless.

Francis Odachi Ekpo.

BUHARI/IDIAGBON LED MILITARY JUNTA: A CASE STUDY OF DR. SAM MBAKWE LEADERSHIP LEGACY...By Ogar Emmanuel Oko

Written by Ogar Emmanuel Oko

Against the many lies given by the barrack's boys for expelling the second republic political leaders under the superintendent of Alhaji Shehu Shagari of being corrupt; the whole water from River Niger cannot watch them clean of the evil dirt they brought on us as a nation.

Some governors in that dispensation were clever. They were innovative and visionary in their leadership approach. They understood the essence of governance. They knew that good name was better than riches. Though, some were corrupt. Others weren't. My few months of sojourning in Imo state, I've been interacting with people and visiting places to be informed socially and politically. Those I mingled with, were actively involved in politics then.

One erstwhile governor that his names rings like Monday bell is Dr. Sam Mbakwe. Mbakwe was a great man of extraordinary prudence. A native of Obowo LGA and by extension, my in-law.

In less than four years, available record shows that he built 14 factories/industries across the state that comprised of Imo and Abia states then. His administration successfully built paper industry in Orlu, paint industry in Aboh Mbaise and airport at Ahiazu.

After they were ingloriously chased out, most of their achievements suffered greatly due to mismanagement. Some of these industries and factories are now homes of rodents and goons. This generation leaders are busy junketing around the globe; misappropriating and embezzling public funds. They're signing preposterous memorandum of understanding (MoUs).

Many governors today after about 4 years in power can't pinpoint any meaningful project executed by them. They prefer to be described as supersonic and digital governors while in reality, they're analog.

Let the leaders of today emulate the legacies of the leaders of old. Today's leaders should know that good name is far better than ill got. Sam Mbakwe was a good politician.
