BREAKING: Nigerian Govt Orders Release Of Sowore, Dasuki

The Nigerian Government has ordered the release of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), and the convener of
#RevolutionNow protests, Mr Omoyele Sowore.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, announced this in a statement on Tuesday.

Malami said the decision to release them was in compliance with the bail granted the two by the court.

The statement reads:
“The office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation has reviewed the pending criminal charges against the duo of Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd.) and Omoyele Sowore.

“Whilst the Federal High Court has exercised its discretion in granting bail to the defendants in respect of the charges against them, I am also not unmindful of the right of the complainant/
prosecution to appeal or further challenge the grant of bail by the court having regards to extant legal provisions, particularly Section 169 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

“However, my office has chosen to comply with the court orders while considering the pursuit of its rights of appeal and/or review of the order relating to the bail as granted or varied by the courts.

“I wish to reiterate again the utmost regard of my office for the entire judicial structure of Nigeria.
“This administration remains unrelenting in deepening the rule of law and the administration of justice in general.”

2020 UTME: JAMB Laments Rise In Tutorial Centre

2020 UTME: JAMB Laments Rise In Tutorial Centre

By Eje Peter,

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has decried the rise in tutorial centres across the country, stressing that the increase will promote examination malpractice.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who disclosed this at a meeting with commissioners of education from the 36 states of the federation and other stakeholders on Monday in Abuja, revealed that most of the centres are run by people without a secondary school leaving certificate.

“The proliferation of tutorial centres; any state you go to, somebody who does not possess school certificate, will establish a tutorial centre, these centres are places of examination malpractice.”

The JAMB boss also enlightened the commissioners on the need to introduce the National Identification Number for candidates sitting for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

“We are bringing in NIMC, frankly speaking, I did not make the law, it’s the National Assembly that made the law and said that anybody who is rendering the type of service we are rendering must demand NIN, and anybody that fails to implement the NIN is liable on conviction.

“Left to me, I am not doing it because the law, I am doing it because it is the right thing to do. I am convinced that it is the right thing and that’s why I am sticking with it.

“It will be difficult, but if we don’t face it today, we are sentencing these boys and girls to a future that is bleaker than our own.”

Stressing further, Prof Oloyede explained that the computer-based test (CBT) centres across the country, have been mapped with the NIN and candidates who already have, will not encounter difficulties in writing the examination.

“What we have done is that each of our CBT centres have been mapped to NIMC registration centre; if you have NIN, you just go straight and start your registration, but for those without NIN, we are now making arrangements that our staff will convey the candidates to NIMC closest to register, this is to ensure that we reduce the level of problem that we have in these centres.”

Christmas: Ayade charges Christians on love, compassion

Cross River State governor, Sir Ben Ayade, has charged Christians to use the occasion of Christmas celebration to reaffirm their love and compassion towards one another.
Ayade also urged them to reflect on the import of the birth of the saviour, Jesus Christ and its redemptive hope to billions of People around the world and reignite the flame of love exemplified in Christ's birth.
In a special goodwill message signed by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Linus Obogo, Governor Ayade urged Christians to use the opportunity of the celebration to rededicate themselves to the values of love, peace, sacrifice and tolerance as necessary ingredients for a peaceful coexistence.
According Governor Ayade,  “Christmas underpins the redemptive role of Christ to mankind, just as it stresses the pivotal place of sacrifice necessary for peaceful and harmonious world. So, as Christians, we must  remind ourselves that love is the first requirement for a better and peaceful world.”
Governor Ayade maintained that Nigeria was now at that bend when love was needed as a balm to heal and bind us as a people.
“We must be meek to one another, pull together and support one another. It is only that way that we can mend the chasm and build bridges of unity as a nation. This season of Christmas has afforded us a unique opportunity to achieve that,” he further enjoined.
Harping on compassion towards the less privileged, Governor Ayade admonished Christians to remember those who cannot afford to celebrate and to make conscious effort to reach out to them.
“We should take time to ponder on the sufferings of the poor who are not privileged to celebrate. And which is why as Christians, we have an obligation to leave our comfort zone to help the poor among us, just as Christ did for us. Above all, let us reflect on the value of family, friendship and fellowship.”

CHRISTMAS: Rt. Hon Jarigbe Agom admonishes constituents to emulate christ

Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom, Member representing the good people of Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Vice-Chairman House committee on Inland Waterways has urged Nigerians to seize the symbolic occasion of Christmas to extend acts of love and kindness to all mankind especially to the less privileged in the society.

In his Christmas message, the Honourable member said the qualities that Jesus Christ represents, which include love, care, selflessness and compassion for persons, especially the weak, vulnerable and less-privileged was the real essence of the season.

He said, “Christmas is a season that explains the depth of God’s love for mankind and exemplary sacrifice that we should emulate in our relationship with our neighbours irrespective of status and creed. This season is another opportunity to increase our acts of kindness and touch the less privileged in our society.

“Therefore, this Christmas means so much more than just mere merriment. It is a veritable avenue to extend love to the less-privileged who are disadvantaged in several ways. In this special season, therefore, I urge you all to spread love and be our brother’s keeper. Let us reach out to those who struggle to provide for their families. Let us put smiles on the faces of the weak and vulnerable. This is the real essence of Christmas.”

The Scourge of terror in cross river state: where is our security apparatus?

There is palpable unrest and apprehension in Cross River State that could probably lead to a conflagration of spiral chains of unending commotion if drastic measures are not put in place to arrest this ugly incident by the security agencies in the state.

Cross Riverians at home;  in diaspora, Nigerians and indeed many tourists in the state went to bed with a piece of unpalatable news that murdered their sleep fortnight ago about cult clashes in Calabar South; and the communal discrepancies between Ebom and Ebijakara in Abi local government area. Since then, those domains have been under siege by armed gangs of hoodlums, ruffians and kidnappers whose misbehaviour has led to the abduction of a labour leader in the state. Since then, fears have been our daily companions.

Historically, killing; rape and pillage had not been an integral part of the life in the city of Calabar nay Cross River State. This assertion was given credence when a former Inspector General of Police described the state as the most peaceful state in Nigeria. However, this prize the state prides itself seems to have been steadily eroded in recent times by the acts of urban insurgency and gangsterism.

The great Greek historian, Herodotus described the savaging scythians and Attila the Hun that brought pains to some parts of Poland: Germany, Russia and even some places of southeast Europe as those who skinned opponents to make coat , sawed off the top skulls to make drinking cups and drank the blood of their victims. One that is not widely read, might ignorantly wave it with a sleight of hand as mere hyperbole. I tell you for free that they all happened. And cultists in our dear state are doing similar things as mentioned.

The communities mentioned in the second paragraph have been viciously rocked by murderous incursions from the both warring villagers. Women, children, physically challenged and the aged have been moving in droves to unknown refuge for their dear lives as their villages remain sacked.

As if that is not enough, in Yala LGA, our traditional leaders failed to amicably settle the riff between Itega Okpudu and Okpame. It happened between Wanikade and Wanihem. In Boki, fighting among neighbouring communities is like a natural phenomenon. In Yakurr and Obubra, this crisis usually find expression there.

Educational institutions are not exempted. The state owned university (CRUTECH) has recorded unprecedented number of killings which are purely cult related "wahala". In fact, it appears as though they celebrate cultism there. Heads rolled and blood drenched the earth in each semester. These boys are more barbaric than even Attila the Hun. They amputate and behead their victims. The carnage in the last academic session gave many insomnia.

This evil that has swept through this once peaceful state has left many raped; killed, kidnapped, homeless and rustic. Life is now pitiably short, nasty, brutish and hellish — what a perfect descriptions of Hobbesian anarchy!

Threatening as the case is, my place of residence is not free from the effects of this menace. Medical, cosmetic, stationeries and barber shops here are now under lock and key once it is 1900GMT.

Sincerely, I would have watched without bating an eyelid since this borders on security and there are people saddled with the duty of maintaining law and order. Nevertheless, having gathered from sources of possible reprisal attacks during this yuletide by aggrieved goons, I am worried, disturbed and I am compelled to demand that the chief security officer of the state, Prof. (Sir) Benedict Ayade and his coercive apparatuses put more effort to totally get rid of these agents of the devil before we are ripped to shreds. However, I am not ignorant of the fact that the Nigeria Police Force in the state has nabbed some of these bad elements. Bravo!

I submit by calling on the people of Ebom and Ebijakara to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance. I call on our youths to shun gangsterism and other social vices and channel their energy to gainful ventures. I call for a national indaba on peaceful coexisting. I call for stringent penalty for criminals. I call on the national and state assemblies to promulgate legislations to criminalize all forms of cultism. Cultism is evil! Violence pays not!

Merry Christmas and happy new year in advance!

The leader of the ward, Hon. Mathew Ojugbo in his brief remarks to the stakeholders stated that since time was running fast, it was only rational for the ward to resolve the issue of the community to produce the next councillor.

This view was rousingly supported and the stakeholders took the decision to call on the three communities of Ayoko clan ( Echumogar, Akreha and Echiakpu) to meet briefly and report to the General Assembly the community that will produce the next councillor of the ward and in less than 10 minutes, the people returned with a report from their leader  Elder Christopher Okori Ogar that the Echiakpu community will produce the next councillor of the ward.

All party stalwarts and aspirants from various communities greeted the decision and packs of can drinks and cash to support the meeting were provided by all the aspirants to celebrate the amicable resolution reached.

In his closing remarks, the DG assured all that every aspirant will be recognized and carried along for the unity, peace and progress of Echumofana ward.

Yuletide: IGP orders immediate removal of illegal checkpoints nationwide

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has directed Commissioners of Police in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to ensure that only checkpoints and nipping points that are operationally expedient for crime prevention and prevention and other forms of key duties must be in place during the festive seasons.

The Force Public Relations Office (FPRO), Mr. Frank Mba, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, who disclosed this in an interview with The Guardian, yesterday in Abuja, said the IGP ordered the Commissioners of Police to ensure that officers deployed to checkpoints eschew all forms of corruption, ostensibly in reaction to cases of alleged extortion of travellers and motorists, especially on major highways across the country. Mba said Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were also expected to provide round-the-clock supervision of their men, adding that they would be held liable for any excesses of their personnel on the roads, adding: “They have also been directed to send to the headquarters, the designated nipping points on those roads for easy monitoring by the Force Headquarters.”

I won’t share a drink with Lampard– Mourinho

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has revealed he won’t share a drink with Chelsea boss Frank Lampard after Sunday’s crunch top-four clash between the sides.

Mourinho won three Premier League crowns across two spells at Stamford Bridge, with then Chelsea midfielder Lampard playing a key role in the Portuguese’ success in west London.

The pair have maintained a close relationship, and Lampard said on Friday he has “huge respect” for the 56-year-old but does not want to be a “clone” of him.

The Spurs boss said he would “always love” Lampard but revealed that a hug, rather than a post-match drink, was the only hospitality his opposite number could expect this weekend.
“I don’t think [we will have a drink] because our stadium is built in the way that our office is completely on the inside our private headquarters,” Mourinho said.

“Until now I didn’t invite any managers to go there and I don’t think I’ll do that with Frank.

But a big hug before the game and another after the game, that’s for sure independent of results and who is happy.

“I think our feelings will be forever. I’ll always be grateful to him for what he gave me as a player.

Nothing is going to change that. I love the guy, I will always love the guy. I hope he loses on Sunday.”

The pair met as managers when Lampard took his Derby side to Old Trafford last season, but this fixture will have added spice as Mourinho’s Spurs can leapfrog their London rivals with a victory.

You were never an Imo governorship candidate - Supreme Court to Okorocha's son-in-law, Uche Nwosu

The candidacy of Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law of former Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha has been voided by the Supreme Court.

Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the National Chairman of the Action Peoples Party (APP) and spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) who addressed newsmen after the Supreme Court Judgement said the apex court upheld APP's argument that Uche Nwosu was never a candidate for the Imo governorship election in 2019.
Reading the unanimous judgment, Justice Amina Augie stated that Uche Nwosu’s double candidature placed him at a spot for disqualification in line with the clear provisions of the Electoral Act. The judgments of the High Court and the Court of Appeal was upheld by the Supreme Court.

Ikenga said;
“Just a few minutes ago, the apex court finally quashed the over bloated governorship ambition of Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law of former Governor Rochas Okorocha and his stooge through which Okorocha would have continued his stranglehold on the resources of Imo State and technically be holding office for a third term.”
The APP Chairman affirmed that Imo State has been liberated from Okorocha's dynasty and also called on the EFCC and the ICPC to investigate the former Imo State Governor and his son-in-law with an aim of recovering all that was allegedly stolen from the state.

House Plenary: Rt. Hon Jarigbe kicks Against Six Years single Tenure Amendment bill (See Video)

Rt. Hon Jarigbe Agom

...says laws shouldn't be made to favor only the legislatures to the detriment of Nigerians.

The member representing Ogoja/yala federal constituency, Hon Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe spoke against the proposed Six(6) years single tenure for the president and governors in Nigeria.

The bill sponsored by Rt Hon John Dyegh from Benue State, seeks to also provide for an unlimited tenure of six years for members of the National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly

Speaking on the floor of the House, Hon Jarigbe stated that "the proposed Amendment is self seeking"

He further stated that "as members of the legislative arm of government, the people's interest should be a priority and as such the house shouldn't be focused on making laws to suit ourselves because Nigerians will look at it otherwise."

Lawmakers who were present argued for and against the bill and the proposed amendment  was subsequently voted against when Idris Wase, deputy speaker, who presided over Tuesday's session, put it up for vote and it was thrown out by the House.

Top American rapper reveals how Michael Jackson intervened in his fight with 50 Cent

Top American rapper reveals how Michael Jackson intervened in his fight with 50 Cent

By Eje Peter,
Successful rappers, The Game and 50 Cent, got into a nasty feud more than 12 years ago

- Things got really bad between the former friends and someone even got shot, though not fatally

- Eventually, the king of pop, Michael Jackson, got involved, according to a recount by The Game

When the feud between 50 Cent and The Game reached its peak, many of their fans were desperate for them to make peace.

Things got so bad between the two rappers, who used to be friends and made music together, that a friend of The Game was shot in the leg by a security guard at a radio station.

This came after 50 Cent had dismissed The Game from G Unit live during a radio interview on US station Hot 97.

One of the people who wanted the two rappers to bury the hatchet was pop music superstar, Michael Jackson.
Game recently remembered how Michael called him and asked if he'd be willing to work with 50 Cent on an upcoming album.

However, The Game was still so full of hate towards his former friend that he just couldn't imagine working with him. It was weird for the rapper to get a call like that, as reported by Complex.

"That was weird as f*ck. It's like, this ain't how I wanna meet Michael Jackson or talk to Michael Jackson. I kinda felt like Mike was on some lame sh*t. Like, who sent you type sh*t, but at the same time it was like - you know that voice, Michael Jackson's voice that you hear. Like, that n***a wasn't talking like that. It was like, low-key deep. You could still tell it was Michael Jackson but it was more like...regular."

I do not take offense with your backlash - Yomi Black writes Toke Makinwa after she dragged him for filth
Michael wanted the two rappers to work on a song for his album but it never happened.

"At that time I was so in it with Fifty I actually hated Fifty,” Game remembered. “I wanted to kill him at that time. He probably had the same mutual feelings for me. That's where Mike lost me. In my head, I was just not open to doing that. I can't remember how we ended the conversation or whatnot. I didn't tell Mike ‘No,’ but it never came to fruition."
