The Youthfulness Of An Examplary Youth, The Michael Adoga Oyi's Example ~ Ekpenyong

Adoga Michael Oyi CEO The Eagles voice blog

By Mr & Mrs Isaiah Ekpenyong

The consciousness that Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Anthony Enahoro, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Herbert Macauley, Tafawa Balewa, Prof. Eyo Ita and the rest were all youths within the age bracket of  20 to 35 when they in unison rose up to fight the white man for Nigeria independence creates some form of fear in me. Fears like, how did they do it? How were they able to keep their individual pride away and focus on the task? Again,  that Ibrahim Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo, Yakubu Gowon, Muhammadu Buhari also were all in their 30s when they became head of state in Nigeria puts a lot of questions in my mind. Questions like, what happened? What is actually happening?  And who will save Nigeria now?.

The situation today in Nigeria where the youths are so self centred and less creative-minded gave me an impression before that, may be, God had decided to take away His grace of giving Nigeria creative-minded youths, having done that before and they refused to use these gift in them to help Nigeria gets to where it should be.

Mr Isaiah Ekpenyong
These were my thoughts until Social media brought out one Adoga Michael Oyi.  This Wogada-Ebo, Yala in Cross River State born Medical Biochemisty graduate of Cross River State University of Technology has shown character as a young man with a very broad mind.

Adoga Michael Oyi is one young man that celebrates positivity. His ability to identify greatness wherever it is and identifies  and promotes it, makes him a young man that should be celebrated by the Wogada-Ebo community, Yala people, Cross River State in particular and Nigeria as a whole. One unique thing about him is that, he even celebrate people that sometimes do not celebrate themselves, making him one young that believes that as he celebrates others, that he shall also be celebrated one day.

As a creative-minded youth who would not want to be spoon-fed by his people in a country where the president has made it well known that having a degree is no more a criteria to get work, Adoga Michael Oyi started and  today is, the  Chief Executive Officer of THE EAGLE'S VOICE BLOG a platform he has used to propagate verified and genuine information to the benefit of mankind. Let it be known that, the whatsapp group of Oyi' s Eagle's Voice Blog is made up of people of all backgrounds and political parties where constructive  views and opinions are allowed. Adoga Michael Oyi is doing this at a time where no young person supports the creative idea of another young man. He is one person that promotes creativity and currently works in the media team of the House of Representative Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.

Adoga Michael Oyi is +1 today.  I urge all the youths in Wogada-Ebo, Yala local government area, Cross River State and Nigeria as a whole to stand up and celebrate this brave, broadminded and intelligent young man who is a gift to Cross River State and through the Grace of God, will manifest at due time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADOGA MICHAEL OYI, MAY HEAVEN HONOUR YOU WITH YOUR SECRET PRAYERS TODAY AND MAY YOUR FRUITFUL YEARS ON EARTH BE LONGER THAN THAT OF BIBLICAL METHUSELAH.

Jose Mourinho reveals who should win Ballon d’Or 2019

Former Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has indicated that should a player want to proclaim himself as the best in the world then he will have to develop a winning spirit. The Portuguese went on to hail Cristiano Ronaldo’s work ethic and he explained the secret behind the forward’s success.

“The best player in the world has to be a winner,” he told Eleven Sports Portugal. “He has to have quality and talent, but it’s not going to work without titles. “If Juventus had won the Champions League we would say that Ronaldo will win the Ballon d’Or.

“If Barcelona had won the Champions League, having already won LaLiga Santander, and if he were to win the Copa America then the prize would be for Lionel Messi. “That’s why I always say that you have get important victories.

“There are players who are really special and who, from a mental point of view, are impeccable. “[Ronaldo] has it in his head, in his nature, in his DNA. “Ambition, motivation and personal pride are things you can’t buy and things people are born with.”

The 56-year-old remains without a team after his departure from Manchester United and he opened up on his future. “I didn’t need to recover from anything, but I needed my time to analyse what I had been analysing during the months I worked [at Manchester United],” he noted.

“What happened was nothing that I didn’t expect and I have been using my time to project my future, to improve myself technically and give a new dimension to my work, without obviously losing what I am.

“Winning a fifth different championship or winning a Champions League for a third different club are things I would like to do, but I don’t go for that.”

Ministers That May Return

By CHIBUZO UKAIBE , JONATHAN NDA-ISAIAH

Although President Muhammadu Buhari is holding the list of his soon-to-be constituted ministerial council close to his chest, there are indications that some members of his immediate past council might make it back to his new cabinet.

LEADERSHIP Sunday recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday indicated that he could retain some ministers as his first term wound down.
The president said in the interview that preceded his inauguration that he had asked ministers to submit their records of achievement, noting that he was considering whether some “would stay” during his next tenure.

Cabinet members who started with Buhari in the last dispensation were: Abubakar Malami, Justice; Geoffrey Onyeama, foreign affairs; Mansur Dan Ali, defence; Femi Adeosun, finance; Adamu Adamu, education; Anthony Anwuka, state, education; Okechukwu Enelamah, Industry, Trade and Investment; Aisha Abubakar; minister of state, Industry, Trade and Investment; Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; minister of state, Labour and Employment: James Ocholi; minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma; minister of state, Budget and National Planning: Zainab Ahmed; minister of Power, Works and Housing: Babatubde Fashola; minister of state, Power, Works and Housing: Mustapha Shehuri; minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh; minister of state, Agriculture and Rural Development, Heineken Lokpobiri; minister of state, Aviation, Hadi Sirika; minister of Health, Isaac Adeoye; minister of state, health, Osagie Ehanire; minister of Niger Delta Affairs: Usani Uguru; minister of state for Niger Delta Affairs, Claudius Daramola; minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed; minister of state for Environment, Ibrahim Jibrin; minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi; minister of state, Solid Minerals, Abubakar Bwari.

Others are minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu; minister of Information, Lai Mohammed; minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu; minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung; minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan; Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi; Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Dambazzau; Minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachiukwu, and FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello.

However, minister of state for Labour Ocholi who died in office was replaced by Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni.
Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed, left the team following her appointment as deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, while Adeosun was replaced with Zainab Ahmed, after she resigned as minister of finance over a scandal surrounding her National Youth Service Corps certificate.
Fayemi left the cabinet after he emerged governor of Ekiti State, while minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, resigned to pursue her governorship ambition in Taraba State.

President Buhari, who is expected to unveil his cabinet soon, did not sack any of his ministers or changed their portfolios in his first term.
However, checks by LEADERSHIP Sunday revealed that some of the immediate past ministers may return for different reasons.
It was learnt that factors that may necessitate the return of some ministers include exceptional performance in the previous term, strategic political interest and the need to ensure continuity in critical sectors of the administrations governance plan.

While some of the ministers may return for a combination of those reasons, however, it remains hazy whether or not most of the potential returnees would retain their previous positions, a source told our paper.
Moreover, indications are rife that the president might not be necessarily disposed to get the buy-in of state governors in the composition of his new cabinet, but it was learnt that chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who lost out in the last general elections are lobbying to get ministerial appointments to compensate for their political misfortunes.
Some of such party men include former governors who served for only one term, senators and other party members who were victims of intra-party squabbles. Some of the former ministers who may return in the new dispensation are:

Chibuike Amaechi
The former minister of Transportation is likely to return as minister. Amaechi served as the director general of the Buhari presidential campaign, a role he had previously played in 2015. It is worthy to note that he delivered on both mandates as the President won his re-election in February. However, the APC was engulfed in internal crisis which ultimately barred it from participating in the gubernatorial, National and State Assembly elections, after the court ruled that it did not conduct valid primaries.

However, the former minister performed creditably well in the transportation ministry. The minister completed some ongoing railway projects like the Kaduna-Abuja road, the Abuja rail and Warri-Itakpe rail. The Lagos-Ibadan railway will be completed early next year. For continuity, which has been one of the hallmarks of the President Buhari administration, Amaechi is likely to return as minister.

Hadi Sirika
The possibility of the minister of state, Aviation, Hadi Sirika returning as minister is bright. LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that the aviation ministry will be separated from the transportation ministry. Aviation will be a stand alone ministry with Sirika as the minister. He also performed well in his first term as there was no single case of air crash in the last four years.
Although, the federal government and Sirika received knocks for the failed National Carrier project, he said recently that government had approved N47.43bn for the Nigeria Air project in the 2019 budget.

Recall that in November last year, Sirika told stakeholders at an aviation forum that a viability gap funding of $155m (N47.43bn at the official exchange rate of N306/$) was required for the Nigeria Air project.

Suleiman Adamu
Water Resources minister, Suleiman Adamu, is one of the visible members of the last cabinet. The former minister is said to be related by marriage to the President. He also performed fairly well in the first term as the comatose water projects were revived like the completion of Mangu Water Supply project in Plateau State which was started in 2012 but had no budgetary allocation between 2014 and 2016. He brought life into the ministry and may be retained to continue his good works in the ministry.

Udo Udoma
The minister of budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, is likely to retain his seat, thanks to his spearheading the Buhari administration’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), although there are reports that the former governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio is pushing to be made a minister.
The ministry of budget, which Udoma heads, is the coordinating body of the ERGP. For continuity, Udoma may be retained as budget and national planning minister.

Babatunde Fashola
There is no doubt that the Power, Works and Housing minister, Babatunde Fashola is one of Buhari’s favourites. In spite of the opposition from certain quarters, the president made him a minister. To drive the change agenda, he was given three critical ministries partly due to his outstanding performance as Lagos State governor.
LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that the Power, Works and Housing ministry will be unbundled and Fashola will be retained as minister but will only oversee one of the ministries.

Lai Mohammed
There is no doubt that as the mouth piece of the federal government, Lai Mohammed has done a wonderful job. He defends the policies of the government whether popular or unpopular with aplomb.
Its almost a given that the minister will retain his portfolio in the next administration, although according to sources, the state chapter of the party is pushing for the nomination of Senator Gbemi Saraki as their candidate for minister. However, with his closeness to APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and also the president, Lai Mohammed looks a sure bet to retain the information ministry.

Abdulrahman Dambazzau
Another minister that is likely to return to the anticipated cabinet is the minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau. While the need to scale up the security architecture has remained a primary concern, it was however learnt that the administration is mindful of not causing a total shakeup such that it would alter the gains already made. The immediate past minister is said to be one of such key members in the security community that would be needed to consolidate the gains made in the last four years.

Adamu Adamu
Another former minister that is likely return is Adamu who was in charge of the education portfolio. It was gathered that the minister might be recalled to serve in the soon-to-be-formed government considering the numerical strength of universities in the country which leapt by over 15% under his watch as minister. Also, since 2016, the Nigerian university system gained 12 percentage points. He is also said to be commended for the oversight he provided the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which recorded lots of success stories in the last four years.

Audu Ogbe
The former minister of Agriculture is said to be within the radar of those that may be recalled to serve in the new cabinet. His wealth of experience in the sector is said to have made him almost indispensable at this time. It was also gathered that his expertise was one of the factors that helped to ensure the security situation in the country, particularly in the North, does not result in food crisis.

Abubakar Malami
The ex-minister of Justice was one of the crucial foot soldier of the president in the anti-corruption war. It was learnt that his strategic role in the fight against graft in the country might see him return to the cabinet to ensure continuity in a sector that is crucial to the next four years of the Buhari administration.

Aisha Abubakar
Aisha Abubakar was appointed minister of state for Industry, Trade and Investment. Her right standing with the president was confirmed when she was also appointed minister for Women Affairs and Social Development. The presidency confirmed this when it said her subsequent appointment was made because of her credibility. It was gathered that she is also in the radar of those who might be recalled in the next cabinet.

Suleiman Hassan
He was appointed minister of Environment following the resignation of the minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Usman Jibril, who ascended the throne as Emir of Nasarawa in Nasarawa State. The ex-minister before then was the minister of State for Power, Works and Housing.

Power Blocs That Might Determine Who Gets What
Meanwhile, investigations by LEADERSHIP Sunday have revealed that party members have since started reaching out to persons they believe are influential in government to help them secure juicy appointments.
It was learnt that homes of party chieftains, traditional rulers have become a Mecca of sorts as intense lobbying for ministerial appointments and boards of agencies have hit top gear.

Party leadership
The APC party leaders are seen as those who hold the aces in appointments into boards. The party had insisted that it will be in charge of many of the appointments into boards. The logic is party faithful across the states need to be rewarded for their loyalty.

Traditional rulers
Traditional rulers are known to hold some measure of influence on politicians. It is believed that the president will listen to some particular traditional rulers.
PMB’s friends and kitchen cabinet
A critical set of those being lobbied for positions in this administration are members of the president’s kitchen cabinet and known friends.

Governors
Governors are the strongest political bloc in the country. Politicians seeking positions must have started lobbying governors especially APC governors for federal appointments. Unlike in 2015, the governors will have a huge say on who gets what at the federal level.

“Nigeria hopes to build on progress made under Ecuador’s Presidency of the 73rd Assembly led by María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, and further promote key themes that President Buhari has championed on the global stage since 2015, which include climate change, combating terrorism and violent extremism, and establishing functional anti-corruption mechanisms to assist countries like Nigeria recover and repatriate stolen funds”, it added.

Champions League Final streaker: Totenham vs Liverpool match interrupted by naked pitch invader

Streaker invades the pitch at the Wanda Metropolitano
The Champions League Final was interrupted after just 17 minutes when a streaker broke free and into the centre-circle.

Liverpool had already taken the lead inside just two minutes when Mohamed Salah, injured in Kiev against Real Madrid last year, superbly converted from the spot to hand the Reds the advantage after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled the ball.
Naked Pitch invader

The travelling fans from Merseyside were in fine voice after the goal but joined the Spurs supporters to condemn the woman who found her way through security just shy of 20 minutes.

Tottenham were fined €5,000 by Uefa last month when a fan mad their way onto the pitch at the north Londoners’ new stadium during their quarter-final, first leg against Manchester City in early April.

The break in play was followed by a brief encouraging spell from Tottenham, with Mauricio Pochettino consulting with his assistant while the pitch invader was cleared, before Liverpool took hold again.

GEJ Initiative Hails AMAC Chairman, Candido Over Bravo’s Appointment

…promised to work with AMAC in grassroots devt

The Grassroots Empowerment and Justice (GEJ) Initiative, Saturday, hailed the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Adamu Candido over Hon Gabriel Bravo Oluohu 's appointment as Supervisory Councilor for Environment.

The National Coordinator, GEJ Initiative, Ebriku John Friday (JP), commended Hon Candido for the confidence reposed in Bravo for giving him the appointment in that capacity.

Ebriku said that the appointment of Bravo was timely and described it as positive development for the council to achievement of its dreams for the residents being the Area Council that plays the landlord role to the presidency and capital of Nigeria.

According to him GEJ Initiative being a movement for grassroots rapid and sustainable development, empowerment, peaceful co-existence, and integral part of the democratic process has been in existence close to a decade.

He said: “The recent development at the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, was a positive one. We commend the Chairman of AMAC, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Candido, for his wisdom in appointing Hon Gabriel Oluho Bravo, a grassroots person, to be the Supervisory Councilor on Environment in his cabinet.

“It is timely, well thought out and positive development because AMAC is the Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory that plays the role of landlord to the presidency, where the seat and corridor of power is located, which also serves as the heart of FCT.

“We in Grassroots Empowerment and Justice, GEJ Initiative, are happy about the appointment made by the Chairman of somebody like Hon Bravo who understands the terrain, needs, attitudes, aspirations and yearnings of the grassroots people in various satellite towns and villages in FCT. It is a step in the right direction.

Meanwhile, the group promised to support and work with AMAC and Bravo, “We are out to give our support as the voice of the masses at the grassroots who are most at times neglected in the fair share of development, which believe AMAC will do, and with Hon Bravo there will be sanity in environmental issues. We know him as a goal-getter and well experienced in matters that concerns grassroots development.”

The group further stated that it has watched developments within AMAC since the first tenure of the current chairman, therefore appreciates the level of infrastructural development, security of lives and property, health care delivery services, skill acquisition programmes, and others.

“We are ready to collaborate with AMAC chairman in this second tenure to ensure that he succeeds in implementing all he has as part of his manifesto for the good of the people in his area council.

“We also believe that with what he achieved during his first tenure that made people to re-elect him more will be done to ameliorate the plight of rural dwellers within AMAC. Therefore, all residents should cooperate with him and the councilors to achieve their desires and meet the expectations of everybody”, he added.

UEFA announce Europa League squad of the season – 8 Chelsea stars included

UEFA have confirmed their selection of the 18 finest performers from this season’s Europa League.

Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal
After a campaign packed with goals, drama and high-quality football all-round, Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea eventually emerged as the Europa League’s finest earlier this month, before going head-to-head in the tournament’s finale this past Wednesday night.

Both sides headed into proceedings in search of their first silverware of the season, with Arsenal having required a win to secure Champions League football for next season.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, meanwhile, entered the clash with his sights firmly set on the first title of his managerial career.

And, when all was said and done, Sarri put his trophy-less past behind him, in emphatic fashion.

A second-half demolition on the part of the Blues eventually saw Chelsea put their London rivals to the sword by 4 goals to 1.

Eden Hazard (2), Olivier Giroud and Pedro did the damage, as the Pensioners showcased their class when it mattered most.

GAME OVER! See The PDP Senators That Agreed To Vote For APC’s Lawan As Presidency Mobilise Strong Support For Him

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC will be faced with the crucial task of securing victory in the coming election of principal officers of the National Assembly as the election approaches.

After the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, May 29 for a second term in office, attention has shifted to the coming election of the National Assembly leadership.

The race for the leadership of the National Assembly has intensified as the federal lawmakers prepare for the proclamation of the 9th Assembly and their inauguration.

The race for the office of the President of the 9th Senate took a new turn yesterday as the Presidency openly indicated interest in approaching the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to support the Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan who is in the race for the post.

According to The Guardian, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Solomon Ita Enang, a former senator himself, who represented the Presidency at the open declaration of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (PDP, Delta North) for Lawan, was full of thanks to the lawmaker, saying: “I thank you for the support, you are welcome.”

Ita-Enang, in a warm embrace with Nwaoboshi, declared: “It was equally learnt that a former president of the Senate had before yesterday asked some PDP lawmakers still loyal to him to support Lawan’s aspiration. Another PDP lawmaker known to have openly supported Lawan is the former interior minister, Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South), who at a strategic meeting in Abuja, disclosed that he was working for Lawan.

“During his own declaration for Lawan at the National Assembly, yesterday, Nwaoboshi, who just got his election to the Senate re-validated by the Appeal Court, announced that the PDP had no candidate for the Senate Presidency and its leadership would not direct its elected senators to vote for any particular candidate for the position of the 9th Senate President.

According to him, the best the PDP leadership would do is to give the elected members of the incoming senate the direction to follow, but not to necessarily impose a candidate on them. He said: “The PDP has not taken a decision, as a political party, as far as the presiding officers of the 9th Senate is concerned. Our party has not also told us the candidate we should vote for.

“I know the PDP leaders will not say this is the candidate they want; they would only give us a guideline. I also have a right, as the representative of my people, to determine what is good for the Anioma people. I am a loyal PDP man. I have not left the PDP and it is not part of my agenda to do. However, regarding the leadership of the 9th Senate, I know my people would be happy with my choice of Lawan. My people know what they benefitted from the support I gave the incumbent Senate President.
“I can make a choice on my people’s behalf, because I have lived among them over the years.”

Nwaoboshi dismissed insinuations that his challenger at the Appeal Court, Ned Nwoko, would present the Certificate of Return issued to him by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be inaugurated as senator on June 11, saying: “Once the election has been declared and the Certificate of Return issued to the winner, it is only the highest court in the land that can order the withdrawal of the certificate.
“I have my Certificate of Return; nobody has withdrawn it. What was issued to Nwoko was a piece of paper and not a Certificate of Return. I was the one that contested the election, having defeated him in the primaries.”

Nwoko may still proceed to the Supreme Court to challenge the victory of Nwaoboshi at the Court of Appeal. However, no one knows his next move step on the issue for now.

Apologise to Oshiomhole or you will be dealt with – S-south APC Chairmen tells Shuaibu

ABUJA-CHAIRMEN of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Six states of the South South, have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Deputy National Chairman North, of the party, Senator Lawal Shuaibu to apologise to the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole or he will incur the wrath of the people of the zone.

They described as irresponsible and mischievous, the letter written to the national chair, asking him to resign, adding that the tune of the letter showed Senator Shuaibu is being used by enemies of the APC.

They declared this in a communique signed by Hon. Ini T. Okopido (Akwa – Ibom State), Hon. Amos Lalabunafa ( Bayelsa State), Mr. John Ochalla (Cross Rivers State), Prophet Jones Ode Erue – State Chairman , Delta State,Barr. Aslem U. Ojezua (Edo State) and Ojukaye Flag Amachree – State Chairman , Rivers State.

According to the communique: “Following the debates generated by the Deputy National Chairman, North Senator Lawal Shuaibu’s call on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to resign, the South – South State Chairmen of the party has risen in defence of the party’s National Chairman faulting the public outburst of a senior party official who ought to be well acquainted with the provisions of the party’s constitution regarding how to channel perceived grievances if any exist.

“The State Chairmen rising from an emergency meeting in Abuja called to review the content of the said letter and to critically evaluate the situation, came to the view that the Deputy National Chairman North merely expressed his personal opinion on perceived issues which is not a reflection of the views of the generality of party stakeholders who are yet to find anything ontoward in the stewardship of the party’s National Chairman His Excellency, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

“The State Chairmen further disagreed with Senator Lawal Shuaibu’s claims that the actions of the National Chairman was responsible for multiplicity of court cases bedeviling various State chapters of the party rather, they asserted it was the landmines created by his predecessor who was bent on destroying the party before departing that fueled the unfortunate situation and wondered why Senator Lawal Shuaibu is just realizing the issues he raised barely few days after the NWC set up a committee to look into petitions against highly placed party stakeholders who were glaringly involved in anti-party activities which was responsible for the loss of the number of states mentioned in his letter vis a – viz the depletion also in the numbers of elected Senators in the just concluded 2019 elections.

“The State Chairmen also debunked the allegations of high-handedness against the National Chairman with particular reference to the altering of National Working Committee decisions as a veil plot to crucify the National Chairman over his uncompromising stance on truth against elements bent on destroying the party from within.

“They however, urged for restraint on the part of Senator Lawal Shuaibu asking him to employ more civilized ways of expressing whatever private grievance he has against the National Chairman instead of playing to the gallery by granting interviews to launch unprovoked attacks on the National Chairman and by extension, the very party he claims to love.

“The State Chairmen wondered whose interest the media outburst seeks to serve and it’s original intendment stating unequivocally that, the National Chairman cannot be removed on the pages of newspapers because the constitution of the party which Senator Lawal Shuaibu subscribed to, as a member of the NWC, clearly guarantees the tenure of office of the party’s National Chairman and the processes of removing him from office.

“The Deputy National Chairman North is hereby given seven days to apologise to the National Chairman in order not to receive the wrath of party members in the South South.

“The State Chairmen also frowned at the intermittent and most unjustifiable attacks on the National Chairman who have maintained unblemished records since joining active politics and has untiredlessly ensured internal democratic norms are entrenched in the party since his assumption of office.

“The State Chairmen observed that what the Deputy National Chairman , North have done is tantamount to creating disaffection amongst party faithfuls. This they said , is very offensive to the constitution of our great party.

“The Chairmen thereafter passed a vote of confidence on the National Chairman and vowed to resist any attempt to blackmail him out of office for standing against injustice that has hitherto been the hallmark of his predecessor which was the only legacy he left behind” it stated.

Is Daniel Amokachi, the New Man in Tonto Dikeh’s Life?

Nollywood actress and side singer, Tonto Dikeh, has surely attained fame. Mired in controversy and steeped in scandal, she doesn’t seem to give a hoot! Not long ago, she was linked to former Super Eagles star, Daniel ‘The Bull’ Amokachi. However, ‘King Tonto’ as she prefers to be called, debunked the talk of love with the ex-international star. Nevertheless, recent developments suggest that something “strong” is happening between King Tonto and The Bull, writes Ferdinand Ekechukwu
Nollywood diva Tonto Dikeh is no stranger to news making. In fact, hardly is there a season without the beautiful actress in the news, trending for whatever reason. Such has left her with the toga “controversy”. Unfazed by that, the single mother of one has gained more popularity for her lifestyle and social media engagements than her showbiz career.
Recently, pictures and video of the Nollywood actress with ex- football star, Daniel Amokachi, made the rounds on a Thursday evening on the social media. The pictures and video which was first posted on her Instagram page showed Amokachi and Tonto on a date dining and later dancing to a live jazz tune from the famous Titanic movie soundtrack by Celine Dion.
Others who were at the scene cheered them. Tonto had tagged the posts with the caption “#Thebull X #Kingtonto.” “Dinner with The Bull at the newest/best Chinese restaurant in town.” The ex-international would then reply her saying: “Was a pleasure hanging out with The King @tontolet It was a good shoot… keep representing.”

No sooner than she posted the stuffs that it gained traction online. Tonto Dikeh looking stunning and beautiful in her short yellow gown outfit on the date wore a smile that literarily lit up the room. While ‘The Bull’ reciprocated her every gesture, the chemistry appears to be really strong as both stars left much to be desired. It is unclear if Amokachi is still married to the Tunisian woman who had twin sons for him, named Kalim and Nazim. The boys are following his footsteps in becoming footballers.

On the part of Tonto, since she separated from her estranged husband, Olakunle Churchill, the Nollywood diva has been going on with her life, even though, hardly a week passes without her discussing issues around the man. While the screen star and singer has successfully kept a secret the man in her life, her recent posts had got people speculating that she is in a relationship with The Bull.

The Ikwere (Rivers State) descent reacted to the speculation thus: “That is very funny. He is married and has children and he has a family. We are ambassadors to a new restaurant; actually the biggest Chinese restaurant in Africa just came to Nigeria. So we are ambassadors filming.”
Not long afterwards and in what appears to be a new twist to her relationship status, Tonto took to Instagram to call out some celebrities while revealing she has a new man. In the post, the controversial actress threatened a number of entertainers and she didn’t hesitate to mention their names.
She wrote: “Dear Nollywood and music industry, I am in a new relationship now and, to God, if I see anyone of you begging him money, begging him to sponsor your shows or movies… I will mess you up and your whole life!!”
With her denial and revelation about a certain man in her life, one is forced to ask who truly the new man in her life is. Is she really ready to love again? Is she really ready to give another attempt at marriage? Would the new man be able to cope with all the drama surrounding her week in week out? From allegation of her ex’s car sales to their child’s custody, the delectable showbiz persona sure packs a handful of issues to contend with.
Recall in the past weeks, the social media went agog, over the Nollywood actress interview with popular On-Air-Personality (OAP) Daddy Freeze, which went viral for a number of reasons. In the video, Tonto Dikeh had called her ex-husband a liar, for alleging that only four people had attended their wedding, which she sponsored. But what gave the interview much grip was the know-how actress’ audacity in calling her ex-husband a 40 seconds man in bed.
Within hours, cartoons were created, praising the 40 seconds man, a strong man for being able to father a child with less than one minute action, while she was judged a frustrated ex-wife who wouldn’t let her ex-husband be despite that he had lost the custody battle of their three year old son to her. She was judged for being desperate to get married, to the point of using her personal funds to pay for her dowry and even buying the clothes and shoes, he (Churchill) wore to their wedding.
Much ado was given to the actress by both men and women, some who suffered terrible domestic violence, frustrated marriages and some who even had less than 40 seconds in their own matrimonial beds, yet all was forgotten to judge, the spirited King Tonto!

Buhari, Less you forget By Ekpenyong

The coming of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, was a sigh of relieve to those who believed he had the ability to correct the wrong doings of the then Peoples Democratic Party government. To those who were tired of the impunity, recklessness and the wasteful attitude of the then PDP government, Buhari's victory at the 2015 polls was a prayer answered. The expectations of Buhari' s supporters in particular and Nigerians in general was so high that it was believed that within six months of Buhari' s presidency, things would change and the impact felt by the people.

When it took Buhari more than six months to appoint his cabinet was when it dawn on those who had wisdom, that Nigeria may be in for a trouble more bigger than the PDP days. To Buhari supporters, it was normal, and to Buhari, he needed time to appoint those he can work with. Buhari' s appointments after six months created no doubts in those who knew him and had wanted others too to know. His kins men became more qualified to handle sensitive positions of government and this nepotic appointments were again defended by Buhari supporters from North and South as people Buhari can work with.

Fours years has passed and all the appointees have failed and it is very clear even to the blind, that Buhari's government in the last four years brought nothing but extreme poverty, hunger, lost of jobs, suicide, insecurity and gross impunity that is even higher than the PDP days. In defending Buhari's gross incompetence in the last four years,  both Buhari and his supporters had always blame his failure to meet atleast the minimal standard of governance on the past administration. The past administration had taken the brunt of Buhari's inability to solve any of Nigeria's problems, from insecurity to high cost of food. Buhari had always blamed the past government for all that he could not do, including his electioneering promises he could not fulfil. His supporters in trying to defend Buhari's incompetences had tried to shift it on his appointees. You will hear them say, "Buhari is a good man, but his appointees are bad", and I will respond, how can a good man take six months to appoint all bad people, 'show me your friends and I will tell you who you are'.

While I, unbehalf of other Nigerians wants to agree with President Buhari that all that he could not do in the last four years was the fault of the past administration before him, LESS HE FORGETS, HE IS THE PAST ADMINISTRATION NOW.

Let President Buhari know that  Nigerians will no more buy into his blame games in the next four years. That any blame that has to do with past administration now belongs to him. That if he is  not a thief, he should not appoint thieves into his new cabinet. If he is a good man, let us see good people work with him. His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari should know that history and posterity will never be kind to him if he fails in the next four years, for if he succeeds, Nigeria succeeds.
