The Grassroots Empowerment and Justice (GEJ) Initiative, Saturday, hailed the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Adamu Candido over Hon Gabriel Bravo Oluohu 's appointment as Supervisory Councilor for Environment.
The National Coordinator, GEJ Initiative, Ebriku John Friday (JP), commended Hon Candido for the confidence reposed in Bravo for giving him the appointment in that capacity.
Ebriku said that the appointment of Bravo was timely and described it as positive development for the council to achievement of its dreams for the residents being the Area Council that plays the landlord role to the presidency and capital of Nigeria.
According to him GEJ Initiative being a movement for grassroots rapid and sustainable development, empowerment, peaceful co-existence, and integral part of the democratic process has been in existence close to a decade.
He said: “The recent development at the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, was a positive one. We commend the Chairman of AMAC, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Candido, for his wisdom in appointing Hon Gabriel Oluho Bravo, a grassroots person, to be the Supervisory Councilor on Environment in his cabinet.
“It is timely, well thought out and positive development because AMAC is the Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory that plays the role of landlord to the presidency, where the seat and corridor of power is located, which also serves as the heart of FCT.
“We in Grassroots Empowerment and Justice, GEJ Initiative, are happy about the appointment made by the Chairman of somebody like Hon Bravo who understands the terrain, needs, attitudes, aspirations and yearnings of the grassroots people in various satellite towns and villages in FCT. It is a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, the group promised to support and work with AMAC and Bravo, “We are out to give our support as the voice of the masses at the grassroots who are most at times neglected in the fair share of development, which believe AMAC will do, and with Hon Bravo there will be sanity in environmental issues. We know him as a goal-getter and well experienced in matters that concerns grassroots development.”
The group further stated that it has watched developments within AMAC since the first tenure of the current chairman, therefore appreciates the level of infrastructural development, security of lives and property, health care delivery services, skill acquisition programmes, and others.
“We are ready to collaborate with AMAC chairman in this second tenure to ensure that he succeeds in implementing all he has as part of his manifesto for the good of the people in his area council.
“We also believe that with what he achieved during his first tenure that made people to re-elect him more will be done to ameliorate the plight of rural dwellers within AMAC. Therefore, all residents should cooperate with him and the councilors to achieve their desires and meet the expectations of everybody”, he added.
