Buhari Commissions New Border Drill Exercise

President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned ‘OPERATION SWIFT RESPONSE’ as a border drill exercise to checkmate the illegal activities of smugglers across our borders.

The border drill has been hugely successful and has led to the interception and seizure of large quantities of foods, materials, minerals and petroleum resources illegally trafficked across our borders. The President commends the security agencies for a job well done.

He, however, finds it disheartening to learn that 295 smuggled petroleum tankers were released without due authorization on 17th December, 2019 by some security officials charged with the responsibility of protecting our borders.

Sequel to this act, the National Security Adviser (NSA) was directed to set up a Board of Inquiry to investigate the crime, and it was recommended to the President that all officials (civilian or security operatives) found to have connived to undermine government’s efforts should be withdrawn from the border drill and severely sanctioned by their respective organizations.

The President has accepted the recommendations and directed the immediate withdrawal and replacement of all those found culpable. He has also directed that their respective organizations should melt immediate appropriate disciplinary actions to them.

DSS Claims Buhari Ordered Arrest, Unlawful Detention Of Businessman Who Bought Sim Card Previously Used By Daughter, Hanan

...The DSS has now said that it received official letter of instruction from the Presidency dated July 5, 2019 upon which it acted to arrest Okolie.

The Department of State Services has said that the unlawful arrest and detention of a young Nigerian businessman based in Asaba, Delta State, Anthony Okolie, was ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Okolie was arrested at Asaba and later  transferred to the DSS Headquarters in Abuja where he was unlawfully detained for at least 10 weeks for purchasing and using an MTN mobile telephone line previously used but abandoned by Hanan, President Buhari's daughter.

Okolie, through his lawyer, has since sued the DSS, Hanan and MTN for the breach of his fundamental human rights.  See Also Politics DSS Detains Man Unlawfully For 10 Weeks After Purchasing MTN SIM Card Previously Used By President Buhari's Daughter

He had earlier revealed that DSS officials informed him that Hanan ordered his arrest and that she was contacted three times to back up her claims but failed to show up, prompting the secret police to release the young businessman.

But in twist of events, the DSS has now said that it received official letter of instruction from the Presidency dated July 5, 2019 upon which it acted to arrest Okolie.

In an affidavit deposed to at the Federal High Court, Asaba, where the case is being heard, the DSS said Okolie's purchase and use of the MTN mobile telephone line formerly belonging to Hanan, was a "classified national security issue" upon which basis the security outfit had no option than to arrest Okolie.

Reacting to the latest development, Okolie's lawyer, Tope Akinyode, National President of Revolutionary Lawyer's Forum, said, "The Nigerian constitution made no provision of any kind for first family and the involvement of the Presidency in the matter was a disgraceful deployment of state apparatus for personal gains."

Meanwhile telecommunications company, MTN, has argued that it did not transfer absolute right of ownership of the SIM card to Okolie because it was a national asset, which cannot be personalised.

The matter is scheduled to come up on March 3 before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba for hearing.

Father Mbaka Releases 'Dangerous Prophecy', He Knocks PDP, Favour President Buhari

The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry in Enugu, southeast Nigeria, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, has released what can best be described as a “dangerous prophecy” on those against the growth of Nigeria as a country.

Naija News reports that the Spiritual Director of the AMEN said those who plot to destabilise Nigeria would receive dire punishment from God.

This online news platform understands that Father Mbaka released the “dangerous prophecy” in his homily, yesterday at the weekly prayer at the Umuchigbo Nike Enugu state adoration ground, where he berated those blaming the present government for the harrowing experience Nigerians were experiencing without going back to history.

Speaking further, Father Mbaka said the current political, economic and security challenges did not start with the President Muhammadu Buhari administration under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.

Father Mbaka lampooned the administration of the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying its 16-year reign was wasteful. He said the party contributed immensely to the present adversaries being witnessed by Nigerians.

“When I was shouting it so many years ago, that with the style of governance in the country, time shall come when people will be running helter-skelter, now it is happening, churches protesting everywhere.”

However, the controversial Catholic Priest, who predicted the sacking of Emeka Ihedioha and the emergence of Hope Uzodinma as new Imo governor, asked Nigerians to pray fervently for the mercy of God, especially this Lenten season, to reduce the spate of insecurity in the country.

For the Governors, Father Mbaka said that they “should go back to their drawing board, don’t leave the insecurity problem alone to Buhari, he can’t be everywhere. You people receive millions of naira every month for security votes, use that money to do meaningful things in your various states, engage youths and see whether we will not get it right.”

By “ORDER ON THE CAPPING OF ESTIMATED BILLS IN THE NIGERIAN ELECTRICITY SUPPLY INDUSTRY, 2020” issued by NERC, signed on 20 February 2020, no person in Nigeria is allowed to pay estimated electricity bill as from 20 February 2020. Estimated billing system has been repealed and abolished in Nigeria. The said Order clearly repealed NERC’s (Methodology for Estimated Billing) Regulations 2012.

The recent order of NERC, mandates DISCOs to identify and meter all electricity users before 30 April 2020. It also set the maximum fee that any unmetered user can be charged in any part of Nigeria, monthly. And, any user that already pays electricity bill that is lower than the maximum rate stated by NERC is also allowed to continue paying such low bill. By the said recent order of NERC, the maximum monthly electricity bill any unmetered user in Nigeria can pay is #200.00 for Residential Customers of Class 1 (lifeline, R1). The Order states varying rates maximum bills depending on location for Residential Customers of Class 2 (R2- single or 3 phase).
