C'River: FAO to strengthen partnership and upscale support in agriculture, others

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has shown readiness and disposition to strengthen partnership and upscale support in agriculture, forestry/natural resources management.

This was made known by the Country Rep of FAO, Mr. Suffyan Koroma, in the Abuja office when the Commissioner for International Donor Cooperation, Dr. Inyang Asibong undertook a drive to woo donor agencies to strengthen partnership with Cross River State in the ongoing projects of the Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade.

The statement reads in part "As part of @FAONigeria drive to cascade development assistance to the sub national levels, the FAO Rep. Suffyan Koroma hosted two commissioners from @crossiverstate to strengthen partnership and upscale support in agriculture, forestry/natural resources management @InyangAsibong"

However, further inquiries revealed that FAO, hosted two Cross River State government functionaries and not two commissioners as sighted at the official Twitter handle of FAO.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security.

FAO was founded on 16th October, 1945 at Quebec City, Canada with its head quarters in Rome, Italy. It also contributes to international efforts to defeat hunger and improve local economics by helping members countries modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices.

When contacted, the Commissioner, Ministry of International Donor Cooperation, Dr. Inyang Asibong stated that " to our amiable Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade and his dear wife, Dr. Linda Ayade for the opportunity given to me to serve the state in this capacity.

"In line with the mandate of my new assignment to harness and galvanize support from donor agencies to ensure the realization of his Excellecy's industrialization drive, I have hit the ground running. I am happy with the commitment of FAO and look forward to the commencement and implementation of programmes that will better the lives of cross riverians"
