Amb. Sunny Omagu bags humanitarian and community developer award



Ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Cross River State, a frontline Chairmanship aspirant in Yala LGA, Sunday Igri Ogar, also known as Sunny Omagu has been honoured with an award of excellence in recognition of his selfless services in human and community development.

The award was presented to Mr Sunny Omagu by Bishop (Dr) Dauda Maiwazzi, Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Wonders Chapel International, Abuja.

Presenting the prestigious award, Apostle Maiwazzi said the recipient was nominated for his roles in the advancement of Peace, Unity and Development in Cross River State; especially Yala LGA.

"His works are not structural as in terms of buildings but he has been impacting positively on the lives of his people such as payment of school fees for students, medical bills, micro credit scheme, welfare support as well as uniting the people through social events which he has always been the major sponsor", Bishop Maiwazzi reemphasized.

Mr Igbagri Anthony who received the award on behalf of the awardee appreciated the church for finding Mr Sunny Omagu worthy of being recognized for his selflessness to his people.

"The merit award in recognition of his immense contribution towards empowerment and educational provision for the youths, women, less privileged, vulnerable and physically challenged in Cross River State is outstanding and unprecedented".

Sunny Omagu Ogar is a Nigerian born entrepreneur, businessman, politician, philanthropist and an advocate of good governance resident in the State of Maryland, United States of America.

He was born and raised in Okpoma, Yala local government area.

He had his primary education at Christ The King Primary School, Okpoma Yala between 1972 to 1978, proceeded to Mary Knoll College Okuku-Yala and later transferred to Yala Secondary Commercial School, (YASCO) Okpoma Yala for his post primary education.

After completing his secondary school in 1983/84, his father asked him to join him in his business of Oil & Gas, trading and commercial agriculture & transportation between 1984 to 1987.

Apart from other numerous qualifications, Sunny Omagu Ogar is a graduate of Mass Communications from the Polythecnic Calabar, Calabar (Now, Cross River State University of Technology).

He left the shores of Nigeria for greener pastures to the United States of America in 1997. While in United States of America, he has been a successful entrepreneur; creating wealth and adding value chain for sustainable growth and development at all levels. For the love he has for his native country, Nigeria, Ambassador Sunny Omagu has visited home 20 times during his 22years in America. This is borne out of his passion and love to be in touch with his people thereby contributing his quota to community growth through human capital development, agricultural inputs and supports, microfinance loans, philanthropy, empowerment and educational scholarships.

He is the President/Chief Executive Officer of SunnySide Investment Ltd in Maryland, United States of America.

Amongst several awards to his credit, he is a recipient of the prestigious Yala Achievers Awards. An award for people who has made remarkable inputs to the sustainable growth and development of Yala LGA of Cross River State and Nigeria as a whole.

Sunny Omagu is happily married with two wonderful children.
