Recently, the Cross River State Government took delivery of more than 30 heavy duty equipment in preparation for the Mechanization phase of its Agro - Industrial Revolution driven by the visionary governor, Sen. Prof. Benedict Ayade.
The equipment which were supplied by the world renowned equipment makers John Deere and Tata are some of the best in the region and come with full guarantee.
They are a full complement of land preparation equipment that are expected to be engaged statewide for commercial, large scale mechanized farming.
The Agricultural Mechanization policy is in actualization of the vision of His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Benedict Ayade's vision to make the next generation of Green Millionaires through commercial Agriculture.
The mechanized Agriculture is expected to feed the industries in Cross River State which have been completed and need massive supply of raw materials.
These include:- Rice production to meet the paddy requirements of the Ultramodern Vitaminized Rice Mill in Ogoja; and Maize production to meet the demand of raw materials by the Feed Mill in Calabar.
Others include Cotton production to meet the demand of the Garment Factory in Calabar, and Cocoa Production to meet the demand of raw materials by the Cocoa Factory in Ikom; among many others.
These equipment are only a first installment of many more that will make farming in Cross River State a most productive venture, bringing Green Money to the state, and decoupling it from Federally allocated revenue.
The governor's dream is to take Cross River State from the third world to the first world by engendering economic development, creating wealth and jobs as well as food sufficiency.
Mechanization is a critical piece of the puzzle in Agro Industrial Revolution. It should, thus, be clear to all discerning minds that the Ayade Agro Industrial Revolution is well on the way.
