United Nations (UN) affiliated organisations are set to hold Okpoma Day of Peace 2019 in Okpoma, headquarters of Yala Local Government Area, Cross River State.
The UN Affiliates include, Universal Peace Federation, Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, Youth and Students for Peace, Global Educators.
The event scheduled for Thursday, September 2016, is themed, "Building a peaceful Okpoma for All", holds at the World Peace Centre, Ochoku, Okpoma, Yala LGA, CRS.
According to the Secretary-General, Universal Peace Federation, Dr Raphael Ogar Oko, over 600 are expected to participate in the one day event.
Responding to enquiries ok the event, Dr Oko said, "This event is an outcome of the inaugural assembly of Okpoma Development Forum as well as the follow up Okpoma Teachers Professional Development workshop held recently at Okpoma. We asked each village to bring 30 persons and we are expecting about 600 persons in all."
He added that other non classified groups are welcome as it is an open event.
The event, which promises to address the lingering security challenges and hopes to proffer lasting solutions to the relative peace in the communities. It will also feature celebration of peace and peace-related lectures from invested speakers.
