Before the advent of the expedition of the white man in Sub-Saharan African, the Efik Eburutu Kingdom, an ancient kingdom of the Efik people was a sovereign entity. History has it that the Efiks were so civilized that their king, the Obong of Calabar remains the only king in Africa that was not subdued by the whites but did everything with them in pen and paper. That is why till tomorrow, he is the only king in Africa known as the "treaty king". This is the story of the Efiks, a people that is part of this geographical area called Nigeria today. I know other tribes may also have their story to tell how they ruled themselves before the white man came.
The area called Nigeria today was only conquered through the use of gun to the benefit of the whites alone and this is the more reason why Britain watching what is happening in Nigeria now should rise and do the needful by apologizing to all the tribes they forcefully brought together without their consent. This apology is now very important and necessary because in leaving Nigeria after independence, Britain our colonial masters also structured Nigeria to favor certain tribes who now believes every other tribe are their subjects and they, the new colonial masters.
For over 50 years today, Nigeria has refused to work not because she does not have both human and material resources to work, but because there are those who believes that because they own Nigeria, they alone should determine how Nigeria works, which must also be to their own benefit alone.
The recent 30 days ultimatum given by one Abdul Azeez Suleman on behalf of Northern Coalition Groups in response to the rejection of establishing Fulani communities in all parts of Nigeria by Nigerians, and the treat contain therein in the ultimatum that if Nigerians of southern origin refuses the implementation of the RUGA project, they will begin the ejection of Nigerians of Southern extraction from northern Nigeria, is not only criminal but treasonable.
One thing is very certain, the ultimatum given by Abdul Azeez Suleman is most highly welcome and is what others have been expecting and waiting for. But my question is, will it suffice to say that he will also ask all northerners to leave southern Nigeria within the 30days ultimatum? If that will be done and everybody obeys the rules of engagement, it will then return us all to status quo, I mean, pre-independence status and from there we can begin to negotiate whether to come back together or remain that way.
There are Hausa communities everywhere in Southern Nigeria doing their legitimate business without molestation from any quarters and without confrontations with their host communities. There are other tribes too doing legitimate businesses in Northern Nigeria without any molestation. Why is the Fulani own different ?
ARREST ABDUL AZEEZ SULEMAN NOW FOR TREASON OR WE AWAIT THE CARRYING OUT OF HIS THREATS, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
