CROSS RIVER STATE SET TO COMMENCE THE LARGEST MOSQUITO NET DISTRIBUTION IN HISTORY!!

AYADE READY TO ELIMINATE MALARIA!  2.3 MILLION NETS, OVER 11000 TECHNICAL TEAM, 4.6 MILLION PARTICIPANTS!


Cross River State Government in conjunction with the United State Agency for International Development (USAID), Global Health Supply Chain Program and  breakthrough Action
is set to commence the distribution of about 2.3 million Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) to individuals across the state in a ratio of one net to two persons

The Distribution is part of a coordinated effort supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other partners to combat Malaria in Nigeria.

Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu who flagged off the State level training of trainers for the campaign implementation at Calabar said Cross River State under the sterling leadership and support of Governor Ben Ayade is aiming to achieve universal coverage meaning a 100% record by ensuring every person benefit from the net. She said all Cross Riverians have been engaged for this exercise. “ everyone resident in Cross River State have been hired to collect net and hang them up in their houses. Your reward will be no malaria disease again for you and your household!

She tasked the trainees and State implementation team to diligently work hard to achieve better results than what was obtainable in previous campaigns. “NO ONE SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND IRRESPECTIVE OF WHERE THE LIVE”!

According to her 2019 campaign is focus on distributing at least one long lasting insecticidal net to every two persons in the State.

“Today, the implementation process is officially commencing with the training of trainers who will later go into the LGAs to train the field workers and then we will begin the campaign in Ernest; she said.

She also noted that the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong is committed to a smooth implementation of the campaign by ensuring that beneficiaries are made to ultilise the bed nets while warning that the government would not condone diversion of any net. She called on security agencies to support the process.

Among the list of implementation officers trained were LGAs Coordinators for the exercise, LGA Monitors, Campaign Implementation Team Members,  Support Staff, Logisticians, Health educators, Roll Back Malaria program officers and PHC Directors, conveyors, etc!
