ANOTHER VICTORY! APC Sends Powerful Message To Atiku After He Was Declared Winner Of Election

The more reactions have continued to trail the victory of one of the incumbent Governors of the ruling party in the just concluded election of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State had emerged winner of the post of the Chairman of the forum. Many people including fellow Governors have congratulated him.

Also, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the Governor of Kebbi State, Bagudu on his election as the new Chairman of PGF.

According to Daily Post, this was contained in a statement Friday night by Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC National Publicity Secretary. It noted that Bagudu’s unanimous election was well deserved.

“We note Bagudu’s achievements in the agricultural sector, particularly rice production in Kebbi State which is in line with the diversification agenda of the President Muhammau Buhari-led APC administration.

“In line with the PGF’s Objectives of promoting good governance, ensuring developmental synergy across APC States and promoting the social democratic programmes of the APC, we are confident that under Bagudu’s leadership, the PGF will continue to contribute to the growth of our great party, promote our progressive ideals and support the President Buhari administration to continue to deliver on the promises made to the Nigerian people.

“We wish Bagudu a successful tenure as Chairman, Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF)”, the statement added. Bagudu has now replaced Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State who held the position. Okorocha’s second term in office will expire on May 29, 2019.

The PGF is an umbrella body of the Governors elected on the platform of the ruling APC. It helps them to share ideas and make other decisions that will be of benefit to them in running their various states.

In another development, the ruling party has reacted to the victory of Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi at the Supreme Court.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West has described the Supreme Court victory of the Governor Fayemi, as the triumph of supremacy of the Nigerian constitution, rule of law and a new dawn in the independence of the judiciary.

According to PM News, the Supreme Court on Friday upheld the Appeal Court’s judgement in the election petition by the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prof Olusola Eleka, in the July 14, 2018 governorship election, declaring the petition as frivolous and lacking in merit.

A statement by the APC South West Zonal Publicity Secretary, Karonwi Oladapo, noted that, “Those who know the workings of the rule of law and tenets of democracy cautioned former Governor Ayo Fayose and his minion, Prof Eleka, against filing their petition, saying such was a mere shadow-chasing considering the frivolity of the petition and the preponderance of complaints that lacked evidential value in the petition”.

“Reasonable people knew that Eleka would not be able to sustain his case after complaining in more than 900 polling units but could only provide witnesses in less than 50 polling units, but because of PDP’s over-reliance on the rule of men over the years to illegally seize people’s mandates, particularly in the South West, Eleka tested the waters again, but Buhari’s administration had already straightened the path of the nation’s justice system to allow Nigerians get justice.”

The south west APC leadership applauded Fayemi for maintaining focus while the frivolous litigations were going on. He was busy implementing life lifting programmes and commissioning projects that have impacted positively on the life and well being of Ekiti people. “we are proud of him,” Karounwi explained.

While congratulating Fayemi for the victory, the party expressed the hope that the governor will surpass his performance in the first term to take Ekiti State to greater heights of development.

It is believed that with the verdict of the apex court on the governorship election in the state, the matter has been laid to rest.
