Kajuru crisis: Kaduna extends curfew to two communities

The Kaduna State Government has announced the extension of the 24 -hour -curfew on Kujama and Maraban Rido Communities in Chikun Local Government Area of the State .

The curfew was to avert further breakdown of the law and order following the crisis which hit Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru LG of the state on Thursday through to Friday morning .

Three persons were said to have been killed and a house razed during the incident .
It was gathered that trouble started when the body of a Hausa boy was found in a well. In reprisal , some Hausa boys allegedly attacked Adara boys in the area.
The two Adara boys , according to a source, were coming from the market when they were attacked and beaten by some Hausa boys . One of them was rushed to the St . Gerard Catholic Hospital where he died on Friday morning .
The incident sparked apprehension , forcing the deployment of security operatives in the troubled community .
However , in another announcement , the government extended the 24 -hour -curfew to Kujama , Mararaban Rido , in Chikun Local Government Area of the state .
Kujama and Mararaban Rido are two communities considered as flashpoints and some few minutes drive from the troubled Kasuwan Magani, in Kajuru LG .
Government , therefore, slam the curfew with a view to averting violence and a possible spillover to other communities in the state .

Governor Nasir El -Rufai ’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity , Mr . Samuel Aruwan , announced the government’ s further review of the security situation in Kajuru LG .
He said the government decided , as a preventive measure , to reinstate dusk to dawn curfew in Kujama and Mararanan Rido in Chikun LG .

He said , “The Kaduna State Government has further reviewed the security situation in and around Kajuru Local Government Area .

“Consequent to this review, the government has decided , as a preventive measure , to reinstate dusk to dawn curfew in Kujama and Maraban Rido communities of Chikun Local Government Area until further notice .
“Effective today , Friday , 26 th April 2019 , curfew will be enforced from 6 pm to 6am daily in Kujama and Maraban Rido . Residents of these communities are encouraged to support and cooperate with the security agencies as they uphold peace and security.”
