RELATED TOPICS: All is now set for the Government of Cross River State to conduct a screening exercise for 1000 candidates shortlisted by the Cross River state primary health care development Agency so that they can be engaged by the agency into the state workforce.
The screening exercise which will commenced Tuesday next week would be conducted by the agency to enable the agency pick qualified and successful applicants seeking to fill in vacant positions existing in the health sector in the state.
The Director General (DG), Cross State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Betta Edu stated this while interacting with journalists in Calabar.
Edu stated that the governor, Prof. Ben Ayade had graciously approved the employment of 1000 health workers to meet the man-power need of the primary healthcare sector in the state notwithstanding the economic hard times biting most state governments.
She said that the screening exercise would be meant for applicants across the three Senatorial districts of the state with those from the south to be first attended to next week.
The State Primary Health care Development Agency DG maintained that the exercise which commenced earlier in 2019 had 7,300 people who initially applied for various positions advertised, by the agency, and 5,300 applicants were being shortlisted for the screening examination, stressing that 1,700 eventually made it to the final stage after a rigorous interview was conducted for the applicants.
The DG averred that the selection interview meant to pick people with egg heads and worthy character will begin from Tuesday on April 23rd next week at the Agency’s headquarters which is located at Moore Road, Calabar stressing that the screening process will start with applicants from the southern senatorial district of the state before attending to candidates from other two senatorial districts.
The DG lauded Gov. Ben Ayade for demonstrating the capacity to employ such a large number of people at a time when other state governors and even the Federal Government cannot provide employment for the army of unemployed youths who roam the streets of the nation in search of in search of paid employment .
She urged candidates who are preparing for the final screening not to worry themselves but rather be positive about the chances of getting the job so long as they are sure of themselves adding that employment in to the health sector would strictly be based on merit and not on the basis of “man know man”.
Edu announced plans by the agency to launch the maternal and child health emergency in line with the president’s wife support to Reproductive, Maternal, Child Health plus Nutrition (RMCH+N) adding that the State Government would soon open a state of the art primary healthcare center in Yache, in Gala LGA of the state to attend to the health need of a vast population of cross riverians residing in that part of the state.
