The Executive Chairman of Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (CR-SUBEB), Dr Stephen Odey has commended Governor Ben Ayade for the prompt payment of salaries to newly recruited primary school staff despite huge increase in the wage bill.
According to him, the commendation which is coming in the wake of the payment of March 2019 salaries to all primary school staff is a proof of the Governor’s passion for the basic education sector and welfare of staff.
Dr Odey also extended gratitude to the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Esu, Accountant General, Joseph Adie and Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, John Ulafor for the role they played towards the payment of teachers.
He charged newly recruited staff to show absolute commitment and dedication to duty, adding that “to whom much is given, much is expected.” He further reminded them to recall how difficult life was before they were given the employment and to put this opportunity to good use.
The SUBEB Boss further warned newly recruits to desists from coming to SUBEB Office for change in postings, stating that teachers were deployed according to areas of needs. He added that anyone who flouts the directive will face severe sanctions.
