The Senior Special Assistant on Mobilization and enlightenment to the Cross River State government, Chief Mrs.Angela Ogeyi Odey has said the endorsement of all the PDP candidates for the 2019 elections is in good faith and in the best interest of the state.
“In the past, and in most other states, we have seen how stakeholders impose lackeys who are by all means low profile and open to manipulation.
Here is a different case all together. Supporting PDP candidates definitely means well. We all know that no Professor worth Ayade's salt would allow himself to be remote-controlled. No worthy Professor would play the lackey because unlike most other run of the mill politician’s, a Professor has a lot at stake,” Chief Angela said during a press briefing.
He said for PDP stakeholders to accepted the advice of the state’s leading traditional rulers and eminent elders is a further indication of their statesmanship, selfless love and abiding respect for the Cross River people and it’s institutions.
Calling on the people to support PDP candidates , the SSA said there is guarantee of continuity of the vision and goals the PDP as a party had set out to achieve.
“Obviously, the stakeholders action was the result of wide consultations in order to assist in making an all-inclusive choice. The choice of PDP must therefore have come after objectively analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of each party in relation to the realities of facing the electorate.
“Taking into account Ayade's history, character, temperament, unifying nature and track record, he stands out obviously as the most marketable of all the other candidates .
” Professor Benedict Ayade is the best candidate whose choice will silence all his opponents and will also connect very well with communities across the 18 local government areas because in his first tenure he has been going up and down the state rebuilding infrastructure and projects.
“The people at the grassroots know him and he is popular with them,” the statement concluded.
