Comrade Michael Sunday Emaluji, SDP candidate for cross river state Yala 1 constituency condemns Jos Killings.

Following the recent killings in Jos  north and south by herdsmen, I wish to condom the act and task all the security agency to stand up and bring all the perpetrators out.

It was gathered that, there is tension as the state government has imposed a dusk to saw curfew in Jos( 6am-6pm) in the area as a result of Fulani's herdsmen attack on villagers and students of the prestigious university of Jos.
The attackers went to invade the village hostel of the university where both boys, girls and disabled stays and the students having sighted them started blocking them from entering and they shot sporadically which left many killed and some injured. This led to the death of a 300 level law students by name, Shadrach Kums an undergraduate. He is amongst the scores of students trying to beat back the attackers of the  gate hostel and was fatally shot, they were rush to the Jos  teaching hospital but couldn't make it, this was disclosed by the SUG president.

This act is uncalled for and should be condemned because the people attacking the students were even spotted to be Muslim security men who the students thought were coming for their rescue, but unknowingly to them, they were out for something. Why on earth will students not have peace or villagers will be scared of their home in the name of hooligans in our country and the leaders are well seated and happy celebrating independence. What are our leaders really celebrating and what is life when you sit to watch the future leaders been destroyed?

Going down the lane, was this really the promising Nigeria our founding fathers fought for? Where is the security and protection citizens are bound to be given?

It is so sad and unpleasant that the world are watching a country celebrating independence and still at same time watching the sufferings and killings in same country. It a shame on us, let our political leaders and government rise to save the Jos  people, put an end to this killings and make the university a place for learning and excellent and not a land of not coming back especially students who seek admission from far and reaching there will turn to corpse.

We can't be chanting one Nigeria in the afternoon and at night become a monster and we should not hide under the umbrella of camouflage of security in the guise to kill other religion denominations.

I pray for the souls of all those killed to rest in peace and those injured, I wish them quick recovery and permanent healings. And as well task the government to work out medium to put an end to this situation and most importantly security men should be vigilant on who and who are really out to protect the nation and fetch out those in disguise.
I hereby urge all students and affected persons to stay calm, despite the 24 hours curfew for things will be normalize in a short while.
