The crisis between Izzi Local government Area of Ebonyi State and Ukelle Community of Yala Local government Area of Cross River State is getting out of hand. There's need for urgent and lasting solution to this menace.
Recall that, both communities has been in disagreement over boundary issue. An incident that had claimed over hundred of lives before the hasty intervention from the Deputy Governor of both States and security personnel. A peace Agreement was signed by both States and communities.
Despite signing the peace agreement, the Izzi people violated the agreement later on and attack the Ukelle people through Ipollo axis of the same community. Ukulle who were pleased with the agreement for peace to reign, had gone about their normal business believing that their Izzi counterpart will also adhere to the terms of the agreement, were rather attacked by surprise. The Izzi people murdered about 50 Ukelle people, burnt houses, destroyed farmland and injured dozens
On telephone conversation with one Mr Patrick Egana, a resident of Ukelle community. Mr Patrick has been on the settlement side begging his people never to take laws into their hands as they await the prompt interventions from both the States and Federal Government .
Mr Patrick expressed dissatisfaction on the government negligence and abandonment that had led to more lost of lives and increasing number of children in IDP camp.
Mr Patrick worried that, the fight is no longer Izzi and Ukelle fight but Ebonyi and Cross River State Fight simply because the Izzi people have taken to federal Highway, stopping all traveling vehicles, slaughtering and maiming any passenger with Cross River State identity.
Below is the two different telephone conversation with Mr Patrick Egana...
