Ayade in 36 months, an Objective Analysis by Princewill Odidi

Posted By Adoga Michael Oyi

He may have signed serveral MoU that did not materialize but he committed no sin, administrators sign MoU everyday no one hears about it. MoU does not mean a contract is awarded or a project has been finalized, it only means there’s an intent to engage if all terms are met.

He hired a large number of appointees, but only very few are actually managing budgets, others just receive what I call stipends, has he committed a crime? Again I say no.

His colleagues in other states are building rural roads, for him he chooses industrialization, He has a drive to industrialize the state, he started with a garment factory, the hype about the thousands it will employ, the multiple shifts and the proposed transformation of CRS from civil service dependence to industrial sector driven, he initiates a rice City project, a pharmacology plant, a proposed cocoa processing plant, invest counterpart funds in primary education and primary health, some really love him some just hate his guts.

He takes every new visitor to calabar to show them his achievements and factually, they are very impressed. I have studied his psychology for the past three years, I think he likes making people happy, he likes a good name, he believes in an all inclusive government, he wants everyone to share the pie no matter how small.

He pays civil servants salaries ahead of the month, he is labor friendly and has bought them over. Sometimes even his critics gives him credit. Because of his love for big things he thinks too big and some find it offensive. He loves setting unprecedented milestones like his big budgets that his critics use for mockery, his frequent and long stay travels overseas, his superhighway that appears truncated and his deep-seaport  still in the works.

Some accuse him of abandoning projects his predecessors put in place, they say he left calabar dirty, and dumpster scattered all over town, but when he fixed it no one talked about it.

They say he abandoned Tinapa, Ranch, Itm and convention centers, to some of us, we have asked, what is there to redeem in those ill conceived projects that plunged the state into huge unimaginable debts?

For some their anger with him is his alleged over bearing younger brother they tag co governor, to me, it is his choice, so long as his actions are within the bounds of the law. JF Kennedy appointed his own brother Attorney General, the skies did not fall.

Ayade may have made some mistakes, but he has also made some remarkable milestones. Whether we love him or hate him, in 36 months he has created an impact that the state will remember for a longtime.

To some he is their hero, to others he has failed, to me he has not really performed badly, his intentions appears real, he may do far better with better resources.

This is not an endorsement, neither is it a support for his second term, I am still open to other candidates to see what they have that will be better than what has been offered so far, this is but a mere objective observation from an outsider. I maybe wrong. What do you think of the past 36 months?
