CRSG changing the game in healthcare delivery system as they launch the most sophisticated Health Insurance Scheme in the Country: 196PHCs, 18 Private Hospitals, 18 General Hospitals, 3 Mobile Hospitals, 3 Referral Hospitals and 1 Pharmaceutical Company

All is now set for the official flag-off of the Cross River State Health Insurance Scheme christened AYADECARE, carefully planned to bring quality and affordable healthcare to residents of the State with a One Thousand Naira monthly stipend, and the option of an increment for any individual who so desires.

The Bill which was signed into law and launched by His Excellency, Sen. (Prof. ) Ben Ayade in September 2016 also saw the establishment of the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency saddled with the responsibility of effectively managing the scheme and the funds generated.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, and the State Health Team in a press briefing asserted that AYADECARE is a social health insurance scheme modeled after global best practices to ensure effective healthcare delivery system. The Commissioner reiterated that the Scheme will attract more resources to the State health sector, increase access and utilization of healthcare services for all and sundry, and also further put the State in the path to achieving Universal Health Coverage before the year 2030 Sustainable Developmental Goal III (SDG3) target.

The State Government has mapped 1 Primary Health Center per Ward making it a total of 196 PHCs, 1 private hospital per LGA as well as all the General Hospitals in the State to take part in the Scheme, while upon completion the 3 AYADECARE Referral Hospitals currently under construction across the 3 Senatorial District of the State will handle special cases to complement the 3 Mobile Hospitals procured specifically to be included in the Scheme. The Calabar Pharmaceutical Company also called CalaPharm is the major supplier of drugs and medical consumables for the scheme.

The State Government has before now met with Labor leaders and Civil Society Organizations to assure them of the enormous benefits the Scheme will bring to civil servants in the State at nearly no cost.

The health-friendly administration of Governor Ben Ayade is not resting on its oars in developing the health sector in the State, this is evident in the upgrading and revitalization of Primary and Secondary Health facilities in the State with skilled manpower and state-of-the-art medical equipment.
