How I Donated My 6 Month Salary In Building Covenant University" - Yakubu Dogara

I have been a son to the Bishop since my University days. I first came in contact with Bishop David Oyedepo when I heard him say something in Bauchi in 1988 and it changed my entire life forever. 1988 in Bauchi. I picked it up and ran with it, and my life has been incredibly transformed.
For the last 27 years, I have been following the teaching I have received in Living Faith Church, faithfully.
I am a proud son of this Commission. Yes in the midst of wolves, I am a practicing Christian. No truly spiritual person ever gets stranded in life.

Many years ago, When Covenant University was taking off with its construction, I sacrificed my 6 months salary(as a lawyer in practice) wholesale to God for the construction of the University. It was a tough decision but I have never had to struggle for anything in life. Everything works in divine frequency for me.
Forget the riches and the blessings of the heathens, the blessings of the Lord maketh rich and added no sorrow. Nothing can be compared to serving God.

If it were not for the teachings we received on this altar, maybe all my political victories may not have come.
We had Goliaths in the run up to the election; there were Tobias and Sambalats. We had Balams who were asked to curse us but God was and is with us, for whom the Lord has blessed no man can curse.
It pays to serve God in this life and ultimately, in the life to come.

-Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara,
Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.

A’Ibom APC disowns anti-Akpabio group

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom has disowned a group, Ibom Integrity and Servant Leadership Culture Initiative for embarking on smear campaigns against Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The group, which claims to be part of the APC, had penultimate week written to President Muhammadu Buhari asking the president not to consider Akpabio for any ministerial appointment on account of alleged corruption cases.
A statement by the state publicity of the APC, Mr. Nkereuwem obtained by our correspondent in Uyo Tuesday said the group of so-called elders is not known to the party.

”The State working Committee of the APC Akwa Ibom State has observed with utter dismay one faceless Elders’ group- Ibom Integrity & Servant Leadership Culture Initiative parading and arrogating to itself the power of condemnation and recommendation as quite worrisome, embarrassing and unacceptable.
”We hereby confirm that the self-acclaimed leader of the group, Dr Asuquo Edidem Etim is a disclaimer and not APC member and we have no such group in our APC groups’ Registration Register in Akwa Ibom State.

”And the Party condemns in totality, the disparaging campaign against our very endearing son, Sen. Godswill Akpabio as evil fireworks meant to generate bad blood and disaffection in our party in this trying time.

”Accordingly, the party warns such non-existent group claiming to be an affiliate of APC in the State to desist forthwith from such nefarious engagement as there is no provision in the APC constitution that grants such power (s ) to anyone or group to dabble into the function which is solely the prerogative of the State Working Committee (SWC) of APC in Akwa Ibom State”, Enyongekere said.
The APC in the state maintained that such letters of condemnation and recommendation stand annulled with immediate effect.

”On the weight of this release, President, Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyary and the general public are hereby advised to discountenance any such correspondence (s) as it not from Akwa Ibom State Secretariat”, the statement maintained.

UEFA RANKING: See the clubs who top the chat this season

The European football governing body UEFA has released the ranking of football clubs after the conclusion of the last season, according to report in Marca.

Former European Champions Real Madrid top the rank for the fifth time in a row, the Los Merengues have amassed 146,000 points, ahead of Barcelona (138,000), Bayern Munich (128,000), Atletico Madrid (127,000), Juventus (124,000), Manchester City (106,000), Sevilla (104,000), Paris Saint-Germain (103,000), Arsenal (101,000) and Porto (93,000).

Real Madrid only added 19,000 points following a poor season under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari respectively, the defending Champion was eliminated in the round of 16 last season, while Barcelona added 30,000 thanks to their semi-final exploits.

The coefficient rankings are based on a side's results in the Champions League and Europa League over the last five seasons.

Atletico occupy the fourth spot, with Madrid and Barcelona being first and second, in what is further evidence of Spanish football's dominance over the rest of Europe, despite a down year this year.

In terms of the respective football associations, Spain lead this category by a large distance with 103,569 points. England is second with 85,462 while Italy is third with 73,725.

Atiku’s lawyer, Ozekhome makes demands from Buhari ahead of Election Tribunal judgment

Mike Ozekhome, a senior lawyer in the legal team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, has set agenda for President Muhammadu Buhari, as he begins his second term in office.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ozekhome called on Buhari to be more nationalistic in his approach to governance.

He also asked the president to “quickly take Nigeria out of the social, economic and political doldrums he and his APC government have sunk it”.

“Before the much-awaited Election Petition Tribunal judgment, President Muhammadu Buhari must quickly take Nigeria out of the social, economic and political doldrums he and his APC government have sunk it.

“He should be more nationalistic in his approach to governance, less sectional, less partial, nepotic, cronystic and prependalistic. He should drop his stiff garb of suffocating military imperiousness and jackbootism and know that he is now supposed to be a Democrat, subject to due process of law, with the attendant democratic safeguards.

“Buhari should allow Rule of Law to flourish, learn to obey court orders and respect citizens’ cherished and inalienable fundamental human rights.

“Buhari must, as president of a whole nation, drop his 97%-5% bellyaching mantra and endeavour to be less divisive and vindictive; and treat all Nigerians equally and as one, whether they presumably voted for him or not.

“He must stop promoting the superiority, suzerignty and sovereignty of his ethnic group over and above the other more than 350 ethnic groups in Nigeria.

“He must give democracy dividends to the Nigerian prople, through the provision of adequate security (Section 14 of the 1999 Constitution), robust economy and infrastructural development.

“He should think outside the box of how to fight corruption, as his performance in this regard has been woeful, selective, exclusionary and favouritism-based.

“Nigeria is more corrupt today than ever before (according to latest Transparency International Corruption Perception Index).

“Where corruption could be said to have been “democratised” by previous governments before him, corruption under Buhari has been greatly “privatised” by a few high-healed cabalistic elements.

Thus, corruption money, unlike before now, no longer circulates or sip down to the common people.

It has been hijacked privatised and held down by the jugular by these few elements at the precincts and corridors of temporary power.

“More importantly, Buhari should dust up the over 600 ground-breaking recommendations of the 2014 National Conference scripted by 491 delegates from across Nigeria (wherein I was a Federal Government delegate, and voted “Cicero of the 2014 National Conference”) and implement them.

“Some of the most important amongst them is the vexed but overdue issue of devolution of powers and restructuring of the un-working Nigerian contraption, to become a truly fiscal and federal system of government,” the statement read.

Mother of Emir of Ilorin, Aisha Gambari, dies at 124

The mother of the Emir of Ilorin, Emir Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Alhaja Aishat Nma Zuluqarnain Gambari is dead.

Emir of Ilorin

Princess Alhaja Aishat Nma Sulukarnaini Gambari who dead on Monday night was 124 years old.

This came as the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Tuesday paid tribute to late mother of Emir of Ilorin, Alhaja Aishat Nma Zuluqarnain Gambari, saying he was short of words to express his sadness following her passage.

A statement by the palace said: “InnaLillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Sadly the mother of our Emir, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, passed away this evening.

“She was: (i) the granddaughter of the late 7th Emir of Ilorin (ii) daughter of the late 8th Emir of Ilorin (ii) wife of the late 9th Emir of Ilorin (iv) sister of the late 10th Emir of Ilorin (v) mother of the 11th Emir of Ilorin. May her dear sweet soul rest in perfect peace.

“As we mourn with His Royal Highness and the Royal Household, we give thanks to Allah for a glorious long life, for all her achievements, the joy and happiness she brought to so many.

“May Allah overlook for shortcomings and forgive her sins, and may He grant her Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen

Saraki in a statement he personally signed Tuesday, said that Nma Zuluqarnain’s demise has left a great void in their lives, his family and that which would be difficult to fill.

“I have just received with immeasurable pain the news of the passing unto glory of our mother, mother to all sons and daughters of the Ilorin Emirate and the mother to our royal father and spiritual leader, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaja Aishat Nma Zuluqarnain Gambari.

“Even as a Muslim who must submit to the wishes of Allah SET at all times, I want to say that her death is a personal loss to me and my family.

“I find it extremely difficult to accept that our mother and our revered queen-mother has departed. Even though I am short of words to express my sadness and to praise her virtues, I want to say that Nma Zuluqarnain’s demise has left a great void in our lives – my family and I – which will be difficult to fill.

“We have lost a virtuous and compassionate queen-mother, who lived her life in the service of Allah, the Muslim Ummah, the Ilorin Royal House, the Ilorin Emirate Council, Kwara State and the nation at large.

“She was always there for me. Her love and affection for me and my family cannot be quantified. Her soothing words of motherly advice to me over time still rings in my ears.

“I can say that during my meetings with our mother over the years, I found her to be a complete embodiment of peace, wisdom, humility, hardwork, philanthropy, discipline and piety.

“I can say that shorn of royalty and noble birth, she was a charismatic leader in her own right who toiled daily to earn her place under the sun.

“Those of us who knew and interacted with her closely, can testify that she was a woman with a deep sense of compassion, love and above all, an ideal Muslim faithful.

“She was a true servant of Allah who contributed immensely – time and resources -to the furtherance and deepening of the Islamic faith in the lives of Ilorin sons and daughters through her deep knowledge of the Quran, life of piety and force of personal example.

“I cannot forget her passion to ensure that wives in the Ilorin Emirate in particular and Kwara State in general embrace and practice the true teachings of Islam which dictate unalloyed obedience to their husbands, care for children, community support, fidelity to the Islamic faith and faithfulness to marital obligations.

“Her foot prints of service to humanity would remain indelible in the sands of time and her lifestyle worthy of emulation. We shall all miss her.

“My heart-felt condolences go to the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alh. (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the royal family, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the Kwara State Traditional Council and all sons and daughters of Kwara State over the passage of our loving matriarch and historical personage.

“I pray that Allah forgives her shortcomings and count her soul among the righteous in Aljannah firdaus. Amin.”
