Ayade charges Bakassi LGA on projects beneficial to the rural populace, Promises continuous support

The Cross River State Governor, Senator Prof Ben Ayade has enjoined Bakassi Local Government Area to embark on projects that would benefit the downtrodden and the rural populace at large.

His Excellency who said this through the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon Mrs Stella Oreme Odey in Bakassi LGA, urged the Head of Local Government Administration, HOLGA, Mr. Ekpenyong Micah Esuabana and his management to ensure the rural dwellers are adequately cared for.

The HOLGA, Mr. Ekpenyong congratulated the Commissioner on her well deserved appointment, while commending His Excellency, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade for his fervent support for Bakassi, especially in prompt payment of salary. The HOLGA highlighted some pressing issues in the LGA that requires immediate attention, amongst which is the security situation in Bakassi.


Mr. Ekpenyong frowned at the poor state of security in the LG, but confirmed that the area has been seemingly peaceful recently.  He also lamented the dwindling IGR of the LG due to border closure. According to him, The border closure has posed serious hardship on the people of Bakassi, as Security operatives sees every goods from Bakassi as imported goods from Cameron, thereby charging the poor farmers heinously on their way to market.

The Honorable Commissioner in her reaction, commended the LG for their tireless and enduring spirit in face of security threat. She showered encomium on HOLGA and his team for the cooperation and collaborative effort in the council.

The Commissioner described the security situation in the LG as pathetic but thanked God for the peace recorded so far. In her words, "Senator Prof Ben Ayade cares so much about the welfare of the people, I'm sure his Excellency will be really sad on hearing the plight of the Bakassi people, and would do his best in assisting the area".

Hon Stella advised the management on the need to embark on projects that will benefit the downtrodden. According to her, Prof Ben Ayade is a grassroot oriented governor that cares more about the rural dwellers and has urged all LGAs to see the rural populace as top priority.

She opined that, Bakassi LG is endowed with natural resources that if harness properly could generate huge revenue for the LG. She directed the council to embark on  bee farming, poultry, fish pond, oil palm plantation, others. Emphasizing the need to think outside the scale in generating revenue to help the Council, as his Excellency, Senator Prof Ben Ayade is a deep thinker, and has enjoined his staff on the need to generate funds intellectually.

In conclusion, Hon Stella admonished the management of Bakassi to continue to support Sir His Excellency's administration, while urging them to desist from truancy.  According to her,  "Ayade is a smart Governor that is giving his all to the state even with the meager resources at his disposal, there's serious need to support him"
