Top government officials, party faithfuls, others storms Ugaga community in Yala to condole with LG Affairs Commissioner Hon Oreme



PRESTIGIOUS DIGNITARIES STORM YALA TO CONDOLE WITH HON. MRS. STELLA OREME ODEY EKPO AS SHE GIVES HER FOSTER FATHER A BEFITTING BURIAL.

Ugaga community of Yala local government area witness the creme de la creme of Cross River State as Late Chief Matthew Odey Lifu the foster father of the Cross River State honourable commissioner for local government affairs was laid to rest last weekend.

Late Chief Matthew Odey Lifu who died at the age of 74years was given a be fitting burial by her foster daughter Hon. Mrs. Stella Oreme Odey.

It was Chief Matthew Odey who took responsibility of Hon. Stella after she lost her father to the cold hand of death at the age of 7years. He nurtured, took  good care of her, provided the necessary support and saw her through the formative years of her life.




His Excellency  Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade the Digital and Supersonic Governor of Cross River State was ably represented by the his deputy Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu. 

Prior to the presentation of condolence message, Prof. Ivara Esu the deputy governor of Cross River State commended Late Chief Matthew Odey Lifu for his humanitarian service  and for all the support he gave to Hon. Stella which enable her to be who she is today.

Prof. Ivara Esu admonished all the people present at the funeral to encourage and support the education of every girl child. He said, Hon. Stella is a woman of substance who has contributed tremendously to the Sen. Ben Ayade's led administration in particular and Cross River State in general as a result of the education she acquired. Indeed Late Chief Matthew Odey Lifu has left an indelible mark on the sand of time, he concluded.

Also,  One of the sympathizers said Chief Matthew's life is worthy of emulation and that we are all advised to live a good life as the deceased lived which has earned him a befitting burial today.
 
Some notable personalities present at the funeral are: Honourable Commissioner for Land and urban development Prof. John Inyang,  Honourable Commissioner for Women affairs Hon. Mrs. Rita Ayim, Honourable Commissioner for Commerce Hon. Mrs. Rosemary Archibong, Commissioner for New city development Hon. Mike Usibe and other members of the State Executive Council.

Other dignitaries include: Permanent Secretary to Ministry of local government affairs, all Heads of local government administration in Cross River State,  Chairman Pension Association, Cross River Women Emancipation Initiative, Formidable ladies,  Excos of National Youth Council of Nigeria Yala Chapter, State Security Adviser North to the Governor Mr.  Leo Inyambe, SA to Governor on security  North Mr Joe Bella Wonah, Yala LG PDP flag bearer of the forthcoming local government election Barr. Fabian Ogbeche amongst others.

The burial ceremony also boast the business of the hospitality industry in northern Cross River State. Prestigious dignitaries who came to sympathize with the honourable commissioner indeed patronize the services of the hotels in Ogoja and Yala.

The burial also contributed to the revenue generation in the transportation sector as commuters were plying to and fro Yala to  convey condolers to the burial.

Various age grades and dance groups were present at the funeral ceremony to grace the burial. These dance groups include: Liveband group, traditional dancers and lots more.

At the funeral service, the bigwigs donated cash  for the building of Late Chief Matthew Church,  Christ Dominion City Ministry.

In a vote of thanks by Hon. Mrs.  Stella Odey,  she thank the Deputy Governor of Cross River State for coming to sympathize with her. She also thank her fellow commissioners, other  members of the State Executive Council and  everyone who find time out of their busy schedules to mourn the death of her beloved foster father. She concluded that her solace is that her foster father lived a fulfilled life. 

Indeed the burial was an epoch making event.
