The Niger Delta Minister, Chief Godswill Akpabio has been urged by the Cross River State Director, Field Operations Directorate of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 Presidential Campaign, Mr. Effiom-Ekaha Otu to help speed-up development in the State in line with his Ministry’s mandate.
Mr. Otu, also the Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Cross River State Chapter made the call during Akpabio’s working visit to the State on Friday. He said; “when Chief Godswill Akpabio served as governor of Akwa Ibom, he practically transformed the State from a backwater to an economic powerhouse in the region and the country.
“Now that he is in Cross River State as part of his tour of duty, I urge him to note the serious state of underdevelopment and wave the same magic wand he used in Akwa Ibom.”
The Campaign Director also implored the Minister to attend to the impassable Calabar – Itu federal highway. “The suffering of Niger Deltans and other Nigerians who use the Calabar – Itu highway is untold. We celebrated your appointment as Niger Delta minister because we are certain that you will pay attention to germane development issues like ensuring the fixing of that highway which is a key commercial artery in the region.
“We believe that Cross River State and the entire Niger Delta will feel your impact during your term as Minister and I assure you of our continued support in the Party and the State generally,” he concluded.
