Yala Council Poll: I will not impose candidate on my people - Hon. Oreme promised

Hon. Mrs. Stella Oreme Odey
COUNCILORSHIP: I WILL NOT IMPOSE ANY CANDIDATE ON MY UGAGA PEOPLE - HON STELLA ODEY

The immediate past Cross River State Commissioner for Women Affairs and current Commissioner-Nominee, Hon Stella Oreme Odey has cleared the air over the rumour making the rounds that she has picked her councilorship candidate to represent Ugaga Ward in the forthcoming February 22, LGA election, saying "I cannot and will not impose any candidate in my people".

She added that she was yet to be briefed over the outcome of Ugaga stakeholders meeting held yesterday insisting that powers to choose any candidate from the various aspirants for councilorship is in the hands of delegates from the ward.

Hon Stella who many describe as a virtuous woman and a critical stakeholder in the scheme of things in Ugaga and indeed Yala  do not believe in imposition of candidates on her loving and dear people of Ugaga.

It was gathered that she was approached by some concerned youths of Ugaga on her position on the forth coming election,  Ugaga councillorship which she referred them to convey a meeting with the elders and come out with the people's choice for councillorship,  she is yet to be brief on the out come of the youths meeting with the elders only to see post of her imposing a candidate on her great people of Ugaga.

She said, "I Stella  Oreme Odey your daughter cannot and will not impose any candidate on my people,  the power to choose a councillor lies on the delegates from a particular ward.

"On this note a tree can't make a forest we need the entire Ugaga ward delegates to be able to choose our councillorship candidate.

"I still hope to get the outcome of the meeting between the youths and the elders in council of Ugaga so together we can suggest who wears the cap as the party PDP councillorship flag  bearer of Ugaga ward."

This timely reaction by the incoming commissioner would have laid to rest the rumours that she has endorsed one unpopular Mr Ogar Obikor.

The general views from many who have lend their voice to the councillorship choice for Ugaga are of the opinion that a credible and competent grassroots aspirant should be picked from the Igeku-Oerikor axis of the Ugaga Ward.
