...Says event holds December 7 in Ogoja
Ahead of the 2019 Northern Cultural Festival (2019 Northfest), the Chairman Mobilisation Committee, Hon Barr Alphonsus Ogar Eba has said all Sons and daughters from Northern Cross River, Cross River State and Nigerians in general are invited to participate in the annual event.
Barr Ogar Eba, who is also the Director-General Cross River State Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau, stated this on Wednesday while speaking on the preparedness of the central planning committee.
He said this year's Northfest holds on Saturday, November 7, 2019 at the Rice Mill field along Okuku-Igoli road, Ogoja Locs, Government Area, Cross River State.
According to him, All is set and the committee is ready to take the annual Northfest event to a greater height with new new innovations and lots of prizes to be won in the various categories by participants.
He said the chairman of the central planning committee, Ntufam Peter Ojie and other members are not leaving any stone unturned to make this year's event a huge success.
While extending invitation to the event to all, he said, "The Northfest event is not for only members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but for all, irrespective of political party affiliation or inclination. Our sons and daughters from the five local government that makes Cross River North - Bekwarra, Obudu, Obanliku, Ogoja and Yala, our friends from the Central and Southern part of Cross River are invited as well and indeed Nigerians across the state.
"Let them come and come and experience culture at its peak. Let them all come and see how our farmers are blessed with bountiful harvest from their yam farm and our yam barns and catch a glimpse of our beautiful maidens, the music, talented dancers, our tactically wrestles and the peace and unity that characterizes our togetherness.
He said the governor, HE Prof Sir Ben Ayade will be present with all government functionaries and other invited guests to experience the cultural beauty of the north and her entertaining people.
The event, which is in its 3rd Edition is an initiative of His Excellency, the digital governor of Cross River State, Sir Ben Ayade, with the intent of unifying the celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the great people of Northern Senatorial District of the state. The event will feature, display of farmers' rich yam barns, pageantry, cultural dance, maiden parades, traditional music, trending songs and lots more.
