There were just 11 hours between Mauricio Pochettino being sacked and Mourinho being appointed as his successor at the club.
Pochettino was relieved of his role on Tuesday evening, following a run of results in which Spurs picked up just three wins in their first 12 Premier League games.
That just five months after leading Tottenham to their first ever Champions League final.

Chairman Daniel Levy admitted it was a difficult decision that he had to make to sack Pochettino and his coaching staff, but that results had not been good enough stretching bac to the end of last season - Spurs have not won away in the Premier League since January.

And Levy has acted quickly to get his man in Mourinho, a manager he has coveted for some time.
Mourinho has been announced as the club's head coach, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract in N17.

In their announcement, Tottenham pointed to the wealth of experience and winning prowess Mourinho has, saying he is "one of the world's most accomplished managers having won 25 senior trophies" in just the second paragraph of their statement.
Mourinho himself is delighted to join the club.

He said on the official website: "I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters.

"The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me."
Mourinho's first game in charge will be a huge London derby away at West Ham United at 12.30pm on Saturday.
