Alice Idiku Achi was born on the 21st of June 1971 at Ayeko (Okuku) in the present Yala Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State.
She is married with three children. She attended Girls Primary School, Ogoja and Holy Child Secondary School Ogoja all in Igoli in the present Ogoja LGA. She proceeded to the Polytechnic, Calabar where she graduated with Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management in 1997 and did her National Youth Service Corps in Rivers State in 1998, Alice obtained her Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies from The Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt in 2002 and is currently reading for her Masters in Energy Security Management with The Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) Kaduna.
WORK LIFE.....
She started her banking carrier in Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc (formerly Stanbic Merchant Bank) in 1999 and worked in various units and departments of the bank for about fourteen years.
She was a Credit and Marketing Officer, Credit Analyst, Customer Consultant, Resident Routine Control Officer, Branch Operations Head, Regional Head of Operations and Zonal Head of Operations covering the South-South and South East Zone, and subsequently the Northern Zone in Nigeria.
In these various capacities, she performed in functional areas in Operations, Marketing, Support, Administration, Human Resources and Facilities Management.
She also contributed largely to the Generation and Creation of ‘Leads’ resulting in the consummation of several viable relationships with significant impacts in the books of the bank.
The Southern Zone of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC covers a total of eleven states with thirty two branches while the Northern Zone covers 19 states plus the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) with fifty one branches.
Her job with Stanbic IBTC required her traveling to each of the thirty two and later the 51 branches under her coverage on a periodic (monthly/quarterly) bases during which she carried out routine calls and reviewed the branches operational activities.
Within the period, she was directly credited for some major account relationships that were initiated, consumated and are very operational in the books of the bank; researches that culminated in policy changes within the bank; review of exisiting processes and introduction of new process flow for certain transactions as well as ensured satisfactory audit outcome for the branches under her purview.
She has also been directly involved in selection processes and conducting of interviews for both marketing and operations support staff in the branches.
She was directly involved in staff coaching and training having been identified as a TTT (Train The Trainer) Subject Matter Expert (SME).
This was largely due to her passion for teaching which has been of great value to people and organizations both within and outside the work environment.
Alice received recognitions and awards for excellent contributions to business strategic objectives and policy changes by the Management Board among which are Certificate of Dedication; Eagle Excellence Award and Long Term Service Award at different times.
Her appraisal ratings within her last five years with the bank were consistent between grades ‘A’ and ‘B+’.
In December 2012, she was transferred to Abuja to Head the North Zone Operations of Stanbic bank comprising 51 branches.
She left Stanbic IBTC Bank in 2013 and joined SpringCot Trading and Investment Ltd as the Executive Director, Operarions and Business Development.
Alice in demonstration of her passion to bring about dynamic and positive change, continue serving humanity at a wider scope and zeal for more impactful interventions, infrastural growth and deveopment, ventured into politics soon after her banking career.
This in addition to her bid for gender equality contributed to and inspired her aspiration for the Gubernatorial seat in Cross River State in the 2014/2015 elective year in Nigeria.
She has however continued to work closely with the different levels of leadership and stakeholders, providing needful counsel and advises that has been instrumental to some notable interventions and changes within the state and nation at large.
Alice is a mother to all, her quest for equality and equity as shown in her prowesses and capacities, has left many Yala men, women and the Youths and other well meaning personalities to always throw their weights and supports for her.
Alice is a political roaring lioness and a pillar which many shoulders shall rest upon and in no due time, will start manifesting in all round political activities as displayed lately.
She is currently working with Edal Consult Limited, a Consultancy, Construction and Engineering Company as The Operations Director.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES..........
Growing up in a period of severe cracks in the moral upbringing of children especially the girl child, Alice consciously decided to make efforts and developed avenues that will prevent youths from falling victim of moral decadence in our society, as well as the responsibilities of parents in the event that there is any crystallization.
This passion to drive high level of moral standards and bring about better life for the community and the people resulted into various endeavors and initiatives like “The Ministers And Community Initiatives”; ‘The Ministers Multipurpose Cooperatives Society’ and the annual faith-based crusades, programs and evangelical outreaches being embarked on by Alice and her teams in the last ten consecutive years.
“The Ministers And Community Initiatives is a fully registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) driven by divine inspiration for “Reaching Out And Touching Lives”. The name “Ministers ”being seen as anyone that is indeed inspired, led or positioned to reach out and touch the lives of others within their communities, positively, materially, Emotionally, psychologically / mentally and otherwise. In this context, the Minister is not just the ‘MAN ON THE ALTER’.
The Ministers platform has seen many children through schools, especially orphans and the fatherless who would have been out of school on financial and sometimes, health grounds
‘The Ministers Multipurpose Cooperatives Society’ an off-shoot of The Ministers And Community Initiatives’ has been supporting and growing, farmers, small and medium business owners as well as providing bridge finance facilities to individuals, organizations and Ministries. Similarly, Coaching, Mentoring, Guidance and Counseling Seminars and Trainings are carried out periodically to support members of the Cooperative.
