Second day of my outing at the Government House, Calabar, Cross River State.
THE FACTS
My late father served the state government for 32 years and died while he was a school principal, four years ago.
We need the Cross River State Government to pay his emoluments including his gratuity as we have been waiting for so long.
On the first day (yesterday), an official (Dr. Alfred Mboto) who introduced himself as a Permanent Secretary at the Government House led some officials to address me, he obtained the papers and requested time to run verification checks, talk to the Governor, then revert to me.
I asked for a definite timeframe but he refused to be specific.
Today, the Chairman, Cross River State Chapter of the NLC spoke to me about the matter. Summarily, he said the State Government is illiquid and cannot pay anybody – yet.
MY PRAYERS
Governor Benedict Ayade should expedite action on the payment of gratuities to those owed by the State Government.
Concerning my family, we have been waiting for long and our circumstances do not permit further waiting, so, we need to be paid promptly.
RESOLUTION
I will SUSPEND my action for THREE WEEKS to allow the Government ample time to settle the matter.
APPRECIATION
I am most grateful to publicists on traditional and social media platforms who have assisted to give this matter publicity and ensure the Government’s compliance. I also appreciate the efforts of concerned associates who have also been most helpful in that regards.
