The Campaign for the return of the ceded oil wells to Akwa Ibom #BRINGBACKOUROILWELLS got a nod by the Gov Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, when the group decided to get involved in the Calabar Green Carnival for Tree planting in the fight against climate change.
Speaking while presenting the group's branded/ crested shirts to the governor, the Director General of the Campaign Amb. Jerry Odey, appreciated the governor for his steadfastness and his political will to push for the return of the wrongly ceded oil wells. He noted that before now, there has been a lacklustre by successive government to take on this unjust ruling which took away the economic pride of the state.
While responding to the group, the governor who was full of emotion and passion appreciated the group whom most of them are youth, and promised support to the campaign. He reiterated his zeal and commitment to bring back the glory and economic fortunes of the state.
The group which has been loud on its campaign for what they called injustice to the state, plans to take its agitation to the Federal government and the National Assembly for action. They emphasized on the need to utilize all necessary means within the ambit of the law to drive the agitation. Odey further call on all inhabitants to join hands in salvaging the future of our State.
