The impressive performance of Senator Benedict Ayade as governor of Cross River State has continued to attract positive comments from Cross Riverians, with the latest coming from a renowned Educationist and entrepreneur, Chief Mrs.Theresa Ezama, who described the governor as a gift to the people of Cross River State.
Chief Ezama, who fielded questions from journalists at her country home at Wogada Ebo, Yala local government area of Cross River State, maintained that Governor Ayade has done creditably well in all sectors.
According to her, “it is a well known fact, and generally acknowledged that Governor Ayade’s achievements especially in infrastructural development, Health care , Education are unprecedented in the history of Cross River State.
There is hardly any community in the state where the imprint of his infrastructural development drive is not seen. In less than five years in office the governor is able to execute well over a hundred road projects, not to mention the construction and rehabilitation of schools, hospitals, markets etc. In fact, the governor’s exploit in worker's welfare has earned him the nickname, ‘Salary master’
“We are all witnesses to what is going on in Calabar, the state capital. Hitherto neglected areas are being opened up with massive construction of roads and factories.
There is also the very critical and important water storm drain projects currently going on in different parts of the state, the aim of which is to bring to a stop the perennial flooding that has ravaged the state in recent years, which has become a source of embarrassment to the government, and frustration to residents .
Another area identified by Chief Ezama is human capital development, which he opined the governor has raised the bar through different programmes initiated to tackle the monster of unemployment among the youths, saying that the governor has used the programmes to boost human capital development in the state.
According to her, “the thousands of young men and women that have benefited from the training and empowerment are now recognisable entrepreneurs, who today, have become employers of labour, thereby reducing the unemployment rate in the state.
Today, these individuals are helping in their own way to enhance the socio-economy of Cross River State.
I want to say with all sense of responsibility that Governor Ayade has shown tremendous capacity in governing the state even in the face of daunting challenges especially in the area of paucity of funds.
“Governor Ayade has also paid special attention to agriculture, making it very attractive to the youths, who form bulk of the state’s population.
Many youths are going into agriculture as a result of the incentives and favourable disposition of the Ayade – led administration to agriculture.”
Speaking further, Chief Ezama, explained that, “the peace being enjoyed across the State as a result of Governor Ayade’s effort, is partly responsible for the massive turnout if investors in the state.
“I tell you, if the peace we are currently experiencing is maintained there is no telling the gains we will witness in terms of all round development across the state in the next four years of Governor Ayade’s administration.
“With the giant strides made by the governor in the last Four years particularly during the period of the last recession, I keep imagining what he will achieve in few years to come.
Now that we are fully in the second tenure one can well be assured of the massive development that Cross Riverians will witness.
“I therefore, call on Cross Riverians to remain peaceful, continue to pray and remain supportive of the governor and his administration, for him to do much more for our people.
