Labour Day is celebrated all over the world on May 1 and is dedicated to working class labour force. Although, different countries have diverse motives for celebrating it, the overall theme centres on workers' achievements.
Just like in other countries of the world, the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared today public holiday to enable the working class subset of the nation's labour force celebrate.
Cross River State, the People's Paradise, is not left out in the spirit of celebration as the "Digital Governor," His Excellency Prof. Ben Ayade has lubricated their financial joints by prompt payment of May Salary.
A payment which had been recurring since the inception of his government, is no doubt, aimed at motivating workers to put in their best for better productivity.
Governor Ben Ayade must be commended in this regard because he has put smile on the faces of very many families who can now meet their pecuniary needs promptly.
Commending the effort of the Governor, Chief Angela Ogeyi Odey - SSA to Governor Ayade on Mobilization and Enlightenment said: "While we celebrate the 2019 Labour Day, I must commend the effort of the 'Alert Governor,' Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for his unrelenting and sustainable effort in ensuring that Cross River State workers smile to the bank before the end of each month. It is, indeed, a very kind gesture demonstrates his love and political will."
She added that Cross River workers have been lucky to have Sent. Prof.Ben Ayade as Governor, appreciating them for making the right choice during the 2019 gubernatorial election, which will return the incumbent Governor on May 29.
She called on workers to imbibe industry in discharging their duties as indigenes, thereby promoting the progress of the state. "I am calling on every worker in Cross River State to support the effort of Governor Ben Ayade. I urge you to put in your best in discharging your duties for the progress of the state and prospective generation. Ensure there is value for the timely salaries the Governor has been paying," she added.
She further commended workers for their confidence in Governor Ayade, stressing that their desire to amend the constitution for the purpose of extending the tenure of the "Digital Governor" will have been a reality, if it were within the purview of the state to take such decision. "We are not unaware of your desire to extend Gov. Ayade's tenure beyond eight years by amendment of Constitution. How I wished it were possible. In the next four years, you still have ample opportunity to enjoy prompt salary and plan for yourself." she summed up.
