Tenure Assesment : Health Policy Plus/USAID Shower Encomium on Cross River Govt As Asibong Bows Out after a 3- year tenure as All Nigerian Commissioners for Health Forum Vice Chairman
It was full of accolades and Commendations for Cross River at the valedictory meeting session of Forum of Health Commissioners Organised by the Health Policy Plus with the attendance of the Outgoing federal and state lawmakers in charge of Health and Health Care Executives across the country.
The well attended event witnessed high-profile Health elective lawmakers and appointees of state and federal government who have contributed to the success story of the Nigerian health sector in the last four years.
Cross River Commissioner for Health,Dr Inyang Asibong, who doubled as the Vice Chairman of the Health Commissioners Forum in Nigeria,alongside the Chairman of the forum and Commissioner for Health in Niger State, Dr Mustapha Jubril, spoke on behalf of the Group, expressing appreciation for the opportunity given to serve in various capacities in their respective States.
The Commissioners promised to continue to offer themselves for service of their country in general and respective states in particular in bid to provide needed Health Care services to the well-being of every Nigerian.
Asibong who narrated the Cross River health success Story as being used by other states as a model, mentioned how Political will of the Governor has produced results in the state health sector,with short, medium and long term achievements under Ayade's Leadership.
Some of these achivements includes, Maternal and Child Health, infrastructure and health service delivery, a feat which also earned the State some recognitions by the organizers of the event following a well defined health financing laws and policies already implemented in the State.
Others are insurance health policy "Ayadecare", establishement of Calabar Pharmaceutical Company,Crass Reduction of HIV/AIDs Prevalence, National Tropical Disease- free in many LGAs,Full Accreditations of All Nursing Schools in the state ,among many others received standing ovation from the Participants.
Also Health Policy Plus (HP+), a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the project's HIV activities also supported by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) were given a pass mark to Cross River State at the event.
