2023 if Christ tarries, will present yet another difficult moment for Cross Riverians in general and Cross River Senatorial District in particular in the parties selection and subsequent election of who will take over from Prof. Ben Ayade as governor of Cross River State. It will be a difficult moment because of the abundance of brilliant and talented men capable of taking over the reigns of leadership of Cross River State from the current governor from the district.
While it may seems too early to talk about 2023, evidence have shown in the case of former President of America, Barack Obama and current president, Donald Trump, that most successful leaders will take a lot of time to prepare for positions they want to occupy in future and this intentions are not hidden and are publicly discussed by the people they want to lead over the time. This allow for scrutiny into their activities and life style and also help to keep them in shape for the task ahead. It is only in Africa and in Nigeria in particular, that those who wants to lead will come out like ghosts at wee hours of election and wants to be elected. It is in light of these, that we are doing the profiling of these prominent capable sons and daughters of Cross River State from Southern Cross River Senatorial District who we strongly believe are in good standing to take over from His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade.
Senator Prince Bassey Otu (Sweet Prince) is a Banker of repute, a Petroleum dealer, two times House of Representative member who represented Calabar Municipality/Odukpani federal constituency and a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is an outstanding phillantropist whose wealth of experience as a former Banker and a Senator is highly needed now that there is need to look for who will sustain the Ayade' s industrialization process and build on it.

As a House of Representative Member and a Senator, Prince Otu chaired sensitive positions which includes Chairman Senate Committee on petroleum, Down Stream where his impact was highly felt in the formulation of rules, policies and guidelines to guide the operation of the petroleum sector. He was instrumental to the formulation of the Petroleum Industry bill during his time at the Senate.
At the Senate, Senator Bassey Otu, was an 'A' senator who contributed effectively to discussions on the floor of the Senate and was not the sleeping type. His ability to combine politics with phillantropism stands him out amongst other politicians in Cross River State in particular and Nigeria in general. These was seen in his scholarship programs to his constituents and his empowerment programs that involved donation of cars and vocational empowerment tools to his people.
As Cross River State seeks for a competent hand to take over from Prof. Ben Ayade come 2023, Senator Bassey Otu(Sweet Prince) will be handy, as he possesses the character, education and wealth of experience not just to sustain the Ayade's legacies but to move Cross River State to a greater height.
