Chelsea Suffer Major Injury Worry In USA Ahead Of Europa League Clash With Arsenal

CHELSEA star Ruben Loftus-Cheek has suffered a potential season ending injury against New England Revolution during a charity friendly match on Thursday morning.

The Blues were taking part in the pre-arranged game in Boston, USA as part of their ‘Say No To Antisemitism’ campaign.

It is believed that the club were obliged to play a strong team for the contest despite their Europa League final against Arsenal now only two weeks away.

And boss Maurizio Sarri did not disappoint as he named six players that started Chelsea’s final Premier League game with Leicester on Sunday.

Marcos Alonso, David Luiz, Davide Zappacosta, Ross Barkley, Jorginho, and Pedro all started, as did Eden Hazard.

The Blues took a commanding 2-0 lead into the break before making changes, including bringing on Loftus-Cheek in the second-half.

But things took a turn for the worse after the midfielder went down on 70 minutes with an problem.

The England international was unable to continue and left the game with a suspected ankle injury.

Loftus-Cheek appeared to catch his foot in the patchy turf before twisting it and is now a huge doubt for the game against Arsenal.

“Always going to happen, ridiculous”

Angry Chelsea fan
He was later seen on crutches and wearing a protective boot inside the stadium.

Chelsea ultimately won the game 3-0 with two goals from Ross Barkley and one from Olivier Giroud.

After the game, Blues fans took to social media to vent their frustrations.

“Always going to happen, ridiculous,” said one fan.

“Most ridiculous occasion to be putting the players into with a huge game coming up. This game should've been cancelled the second we made the final,” said another.

One fan wrote: “NOT GOOD... That looks like an achilles or ankle injury. Probably not going to be fit for Arsenal.”

While another wrote: “For christ sake. We have lost the Final of Europa League. That’s why we should have played this game after the final and Sarri is at fault too, there is no need to start your best eleven!”
