What is the difference between a B.Sc and B.Sc (Hons.)?

quora.com

BSc and BSc (Hons) are both academic degrees which are provided to the twelfth passed students. There is no much difference in both courses but they have slight difference like BSc, (Hons) is more specialised as compared to BSc Pass Course. For BSc (Hons), a candidate should have passed 10 +2 or equivalent exam with more than 60% marks in physics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology as compulsory subjects and in case of BSc pass course candidate should have passed 10+2 with more than 55 % marks only. In other countries, BSc (Hons) take four years to complete but in India, both courses take three years to complete. In BSc pass course, you have to study all the foundation courses and but in case of BSc (Hons) you have to take specialisation in one subject.
If we talk about the job scenario for the both courses, BSc (Hons) is much beneficial than a BSc pass course. One with a BSc (Hons), always gets first preference as compared to one with a BSc pass courses.

Well BSc is more something like a coral and BSc honours is like a pearl.

For example:-

BSc biological science will offer you botany zoology and chemistry all three of them will be your major subjects so that when you go for MSc you can choose either of them or courses related such as forensic science etc.

BSc honours will offer you major in just one subject like BSc zoology, BSc botany though they will offer you a choice for side subjects which may be geology, chemistry etc. But when you go for PG courses you can only go for either botany or zoology or the specific subject you chose while pursuing your honors.

HAPPY TO HELP

B.Sc. is study of All subjects of Bachelors in science syllabus(generally Physics,Chemistry and Biology/Maths/Anything else)

while B.Sc(Hons) is study of a particular subject in detail with less study of other subjects.

Hope it helps. If you have any other doubts feel free to ask in comments.

Bsc(Hons) is specialized for a particular field which emphasizes more on subjects related to that particular field only.

Bsc is meant only as a general course in which you will be dealing with basics of all subjects like Physics ,Chemistry,Maths etc. It can be think of as a combination of all basic subjects.

The duration of the above mentioned courses depend upon university.

Currently University of Delhi offers duration of 3yr for both Bsc(hons) and Bsc course.
