GOOD FRIDAY:CHIEF ANGELA TASKS THE YOUTH TO IMBIBE CHRIST'S VIRTUE OF HUMILITY

Chief Angela Ogeyi Odey, SSA to Governor Ben Ayade on Mobilization and Enlightenment, in her goodwill message to the youth of Cross River State on Good Friday, has urged young people to imbibe Jesus Christ's exemplary life of humility and  obedience, which had earned him not just a great name, but also divine authority and power.

In an equivocal and spontaneous rendition of biblical allusions, she quoted several bible verses to drive home her message. "Humility is the lowliness of heart, considering others before oneself. It is a virtue that Christ Jesus did not just teach, but has also demonstrated in his lifetime and unto death on the Cross of Calvary," she said.

"In the Garden of Gethsemane, flesh almost took hold of his whole being, as he battled between life and death. Yet, he resorted to the will of the father and allowed it to prevail. Demonstrating the virtue if humility, he overcame flesh, its lusts with the pride of this vain life and said: 'nevertheless, let your will be done.' He, being God, subjected himself just like a lamb, and was led to the Cross where he laid his life for mankind. As a consequence, God so highly exalted him and gave him the greatest name at which everything and everyone trembles."

She went further to task  the young people to be prayerful in all their endeavour, as Jesus, the epitome of prayer, had taught us. " Prayers backed by faith, even little, but fervent, can move mountains. So learn to pray for whatever you need and your leaders, and God who sees in the secret will answer you."

She concluded by urging Christians to show love to one another as that is the central theme of the Easter Season. "Jesus died for the love of mankind, an incomparable love for both those who loved him and those that hated him. We should, in turn love one another and shun violence," she maintained.
