CRSPHDA to Begin Final Interview for Shortlisted Applicants

By Kelvin Obambon, Calabar

The Cross State State Primary HealthCare Development Agency has announced it will begin the final selection interview for the 1,700 successful applicants shortlisted in the last screening exercise conducted across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Disclosing this in a press conference on Thursday in Calabar, director-general of the Agency, Dr Betta Edu, said the governor, Prof. Ben Ayade had graciously approved the employment of 1000 health workers to meet the man-power need of the primary healthcare sector in the State.

She said the exercise which commenced earlier this year had 7,300 people who initially applied for various positions advertised, and 5,300 applicants were shortlisted for the screening examination, adding that 1,700 eventually made it to the final stage which is the interview. According to her, the selection interview will commence from Tuesday 23rd, at the Agency’s office located at Moore Road, Calabar and will start with applicants from the southern senatorial district.

Dr Edu commended the governor for demonstrating the capacity to employ such a large number of people at a time when most states and even the Federal Government cannot provide employment for the teeming unemployed persons in the country. She therefore assured that the exercise will be strictly based on merit.

The Agency’s boss however used the medium to announce plans to launch the maternal and child health emergency in line with the president’s wife support to Reproductive, Maternal, Child Health plus Nutrition (RMCH+N).

While disclosing that the State Government would soon open a state of the art primary healthcare center in Yache, Dr Edu said the country should work towards achieving a universal health coverage by improving primary healthcare services and risk coverage.
