The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen has refuted rumours that he has resigned from his position.
Onnoghen, who spoke through his spokesman, Awassam Bassey, described the speculation as lies, which should be disregarded.
A terse statement, on Friday morning, reads: “There’s absolutely no truth in the rumours making the round that the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria, His Lordship, Hon. Mr. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, has resigned his office. It is fake news!
“The Hon CJN was in the office all through yesterday (Thursday) and sat in court.
“As part of his duties, the Hon CJN will be swearing in members of the 2019 National Assembly, Governorship & State Assembly Election Petition Tribunals tomorrow (Saturday 26th January 2019).”
This is to notify the general public that the article here is the debunked article of the CJN in January after the rumor of his resignation. This has nothing to do with the current rumored resignation the CJN Dailypost.
Don't get it twisted ...
May the Soul of democracy rest in peace in Nigeria.
