Cross River State born Blogger, Jacob Clifford has insisted that Obubra local government council deserved to produce the Speaker of the State House of Assembly in the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly.
Jacob, during an interaction session with some youths in Calabar, said that the need to zone the position of the Cross River State House of Assembly Speaker to Obubra was necessary in order to accord the LGA a sense of recognition and because of “its immense contributions to the progress, development and unity of the State”.
The Blogger who recalled that since the return of democracy, Obubra has never tested the position of speakership, insisted that the need to rally round the major stakeholders was necessary so that the slot will not elude the LGA in the incoming 9th Assembly, as Hon. Friday Gabriel Okpechi, the member representing Obubra 1, can’t do it alone, but demands the support of all party leaders.
Jacob maintained that Obubra Local Government Council has long been denied the position despite being the political headquarters of the Central Senatorial District, yet year-in-year-out, the government keep neglecting us.
Therefore, I urged the the party and the governor to ensure that the position comes to Obubra this time around.
In the past, Obubra had suffered discrimination and apathy, stating that now it is the time to accord the LGA its rightful place.
