MY REACTION TO THE ACCUSATION THAT I HATE IBINABO AND EMEKA IKE

Eriacy Confidence

The Ibinabo Fiberesima/ Emeka Ike AGN leadership tussle soon became a distraction to the entire industry and some concerned  stakeholders decided to step in to rescue the guild from being turned into personal properties. I stepped in too to fight for the future of my career, I even involved Coneri Magazine which became the official Media of the National Peace and Reconciliation Summit in Enugu with the goal of uniting and reconciling the warring factions.  Emeka Ike attended but Ibinabo didn't. I still called her much later in the evening to inquire why she didn't attend the summit. Emeka Rollas was elected as head of Government of National Unity. At last peace ensued in the guild.

My involvement in the peace Conference became an issue. My friends and colleagues called in to question my involvement in the new Leadership. Some said I supported Emeka Rollas because I hated Ibinabo and Emeka Ike. How can I possibly hate someone I love so much. I even lost an opportunity to work for a popular TV station because my colleague who was in charge and I were not on the same page with  the development. He and a few others were sympathizers of Ibinabo. I lost a few good friends who wanted us to continue to maintain Ibinabo as the President. I lost several other privileges for the sake of supporting the Enugu  Peace Accord and for publishing it in my magazine. But I was not disturbed and I would not have written this piece if not for some recent confrontation by a friend I hold dear. He said I hate Ibinabo and Emeka Ike.  Ibinabo and I were or are still friends and even Eneka. I was only fighting  for the guild not for personal reasons. I was a diehard supporter of Ibinabo until I realized she was not ready to vacate her office when her tenure elapsed. Her supporters attacked me and even threatened to deny me of jobs. But I held unto my belief that the guild is bigger than any individual.  We won. But I still love her.
To clear your doubts, read the post I did on that beautiful queen three years ago precisely in 2016. Facebook just reminded me of it.

NOLLYWOOD IS THERE NOTHING WE CAN DO TO SAVE IBINABO?                                                                                                                                Ibinabo fiberesima the AGN president is a woman i envy with passion because of her remarkable achievements in nollywood and other related industries. I understand that her success in the movie and modeling industries has made so many enemies for her as my father would always say success attracts two set of people  to a person: enemies and friends. This is exactly what is playing out in the case between ibinabo and the  Lagos state Government. The many enemies ibinabo now has have gone to rekindle the case of an accident that occurred 10 years ago when she unfortunately got involved in an auto crash leading to the dead of a medical employee. The unfortunate incident that happened is not the focus here because I know majority of you reading this post are somehow familiar with the development. What I am particularly concerned about is the outcome of the court and the reaction of nollywood. Will the Actors Guild of Nigeria in particular and nollywood in general allow Ibinabo our President to spend even a day  in prison on a crime lorry and taxi drivers commit every day and no fine is metted to them? Anyway i am not trying to condemn the court's judgments but can nollywood as an industry not intervene in this matter? shall we sit, fold our hands and watch our presido go to jail? I think we should sit up and help our leader who has served us so well.

On Emeka Ike, I got to know him through Prince Chukwu Rolland, the then Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria AGN Ebonyi State chapter who DOP my first movie Yala Kingdom in 2013. I never liked his movies before then but I got  to like  his personality when we met one on one some time later.. I became his supporter partly due to the fact that Prince Chukwu supported his presidency bid. But when the tussle started I called him to drop some Solomon's punches. He took it lightly. Today truth has vindicated us. Yet I love Emeka Ike. I love him as one who fought for the guild.

Our incumbent President Emeka Ejezie Rollas can testify to the fact that I offer my best to my leaders. I love them and will always do my best to support them but not when they are going the wrong way. Like a notable writer puts" Follow them when they are right and part when they go wrong. I  love Ibinabo, Emeka Ike and our  incumbent President  Emeka Rollas. The progress recorded in these few two and half years has shown that we didn't make any mistakes by installing Emeka Rollas as President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
